Big game Ben carries fantasy owners in week 9 with six touchdown passes. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback did something that no other quarterback has ever done before. That was to complete at least six touchdown passes in back to back games something he was able to accomplish on Sunday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens.
Roethlisberger put together another big game for fantasy owners only lacking in passing yards as he finished the game with 340 compared to last week’s 522 yard performance. The fantasy studs from this game doesn’t stop with just Ben as Antonio Brown finished with a game high 144 yards on 11 catches with one touchdown, Martavis Bryant added 44 yards with two touchdowns and Markus Wheaton pulled in two catches for 62 yards with one touchdown.
The other top fantasy performance came from Tom Brady as he was able to lead his New England Patriots past Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Brady finished the game completing 33 of 53 passes for 333 yards and four touchdowns. Since the team’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, Brady has played as good if not better than any other quarterback in the NFL.
In that stretch the Patriots have won all five games with three games scoring at least 40 or more points. Much of the team’s success has came from Brady as he has thrown 18 touchdowns compared to only one interception in that stretch. Brady has also had some help from Rob Gronkowski over that stretch who is finally rewarding his fantasy owners.
Gronkowski has at least nine catches in each of the last five games with three 100 yard plus games plus five total touchdowns. The Patriots tight end pulled in nine catches for 105 yards and one touchdown.
Here are the other top fantasy performances for week 9.
Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos: Much of his fantasy success comes at the expense of a Broncos loss. Manning finished the game completing 34 of 57 passes for 438 yards and two touchdowns.
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The rookie wide receiver out of Texas A&M is finally healthy and it paid off for his fantasy owners. Evans finished the game on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns with 124 yards on seven catches with two of them finding the end zone.
Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles receiver put up another big game on Sunday pulling in six catches for 158 yards with two touchdowns. The positive news for fantasy owners is he was able to pull in an eight yard touchdown from Mark Sanchez late in the fourth quarter.
Miami Dolphins Defense: The Dolphins defense found a way to slow down Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers offense. That included forcing him to throw three interceptions to go with one lost fumble. The team was also able to get to Rivers for four sacks.
Jeremy Hill, Cincinnati Bengals: Hill made the start for the injured Giovani Bernard and he didn’t disappoint. The Bengals running back rushed for 154 yards on 24 carries with two touchdowns.
