Kemba Walker, Carmelo Anthony set to carry Fanduel owners tonight. Walker and the Charlotte Hornets head to New York to face off Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks. Along with this contest the rest of the action includes the Detroit Pistons taking on the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers against the Memphis Grizzlies, Brooklyn Nets verse the Utah Jazz and the Washington Wizards taking on the Portland Trailblazers.
Despite the limited action the chance to build a few solid lineups is there tonight for Fanduel owners. When examining the fantasy points allowed numbers against defenses we picked up a few trends we decided to go with tonight in our lineup. One of those is the fact that the Knicks have struggled against points guards allowing over 51 fantasy points a game over the last three weeks.
Along with the Knicks the 76ers also struggle against the point guard position allowing over 45 fantasy points a game over the same stretch. At the shooting guard position all four of the defenses allowing the most fantasy points are in action including a Jazz team allowing the most followed by the Nets, Hornets and Knicks.
While we didn’t go straight at any of those games in directly we also looked to avoid taking to two players from any single game despite what the trends have showed us over the past few weeks.
Here is our Fanduel NBA lineup for Saturday January 24th.
PG – Kemba Walker ($8,900): The Hornets point guard our first choice to build our lineup around as he faces off against the Knicks. The Knicks are allowing over 51 fantasy points a game to opposing point guards over the past three weeks. Despite failing to get back on track after missing two games this is a perfect opportunity for him tonight.
PG – Jarrett Jack ($6,700): We liked a few other point guards as well including Brandon Jennings but the lack of salary could limit us. If you like Jennings or even Mike Conley you could look to go with the backup shooting guard for Joe Johnson on the Nets. Jack continues to get the start with Deron Williams out.
SG – Joe Johnson ($6,300): Johnson and teammate Alan Anderson are both great options against a Jazz team allowing over 42 fantasy points a game to opposing shooting guards. Johnson has posted nine of ten games with over 20 fantasy points including three games with over 30.
SG – Lance Stephenson ($5,200): Stephenson seems to be a role player with the Hornets but an increase in minutes could help the team swing a trade for the veteran shooting guard. Nonetheless we like his play against a Knicks team allowing the fourth most fantasy points over the last three weeks.
SF – Rasual Butler ($3,500): Much like up above with Johnson we tossed up Paul Pierce and Butler tonight against the Trailblazers but elected to go with the FanDuel Bargain. If you elect to go with Pierce you could elect to go cheaper in place of Monroe at the power forward position.
SF – Carmelo Anthony ($9,600): Anthony might be the best scorer in action tonight making him an easy start against the Hornets. Since returning from an absence, Anthony has put together four straight games over 31 fantasy points including over 41 in three straight.
PF – Nerlens Noel ($5,800): Noel is slowing gaining some momentum at the power forward position including four games with over 30 fantasy points in his last 10. Despite the difficult matchup against a very good Grizzlies team we like the play.
PF – Greg Monroe ($8,400): What is there not to like with Monroe at the power forward position. The Pistons star has posted back to back 40 plus fantasy performances and 10 straight contests with over 30 fantasy points. You can monitor the situation with Derrick Favors and go with with Trevor Booker is Favors misses out.
C – Zaza Pachulia ($5,600): Pachulia is a nice play at a solid fantasy price tonight against the Pistons. The Pistons enter tonight’s contest allowing a league high 53 fantasy points a game to opposing centers.
