The limited action on the hardwood tonight has helped turn our attention to the ice. Tonight’s NHL lineup features a nine game lineup that gets underway at 7pm as the Vancover Canucks travel to the Nations Capital to take on the Washington Capitals. Along with the Canucks/Capitals game, we have seven additional games taking the ice to build our FanDuel lineup around.
For us the first game we our turning our attention to includes the Canucks and Capitals starting with Alexander Ovechkin. The Capitals star has been red hot over his last three games picking up five goals while finishing with at least 8.7 fantasy points.

Now the fantasy options don’t stop their from this matchup as the Capitals have been on of the hotter teams in all of the NHL. Other options we like include goaltender Braden Holtby or Philipp Grubauer depending on which of them will be in between the pipes. A few other options we like include T.J. Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Marcus Johansson.
Here is our NHL FanDuel lineup for Thursday January 14th, 2016.
LW – Alexander Ovechkin ($9,700): The Capitals star is one of the easier plays tonight based on his current hot streak. Ovechkin has at least four points in six of his last eight games including three double digital fantasy performances.
LW – Kris Versteeg ($4,000): Since we elected to go with one of the most expensive options at the other left wing position we need to find a FanDuel bargain. That led us to Versteeg for the Carolina Hurricanes against the St. Louis Blues. Versteeg has been a solid option of late posting positive fantasy numbers in each of his last ten games as well as at least six three point fantasy numbers.
RW – Tomas Tater ($5,200): Tater is a solid option tonight as the Detroit Red Wings take on a Arizona Coyotes team that is one of three teams that are allowing over three goals a game this season.
RW – Kyle Palmieri ($4,600): Sticking with using FanDuel Bargains landed us with the New Jersey Devils right winger against the Colorado Avalanche. Entering this contest the Avalanche have allowed the sixth most goals per contest in the NHL on the year.
C – Adam Henrique ($4,100): Looking at the bottom of the options for tonights NHL contest made us look at the Devils center. Henrique is a gamble on most nights but he has the potential to post solid fantasy numbers at times including four games with at least 3.2 fantasy points over his last ten games.
C – Alexander Steen ($7,400): Steen is one of the top options at the center position tonight. The Blues center is a strong fantasy candidate after posting 6.9 fantasy points in his last contest as well as four additional games with at least 3.9 points over his last ten games.
D – Mike Green ($4,200): As we started to look at teams that are allowing the most goals this season that turned us to start looking at the Red Wings defenseman. Green at times in his career has been very good. Green despite being a gamble play tonight is well worth the chance.
D – Brent Burns ($7,200): Like Ovechkin, Burns is the top defenseman option tonight on the ice. The San Jose Sharks star has at least three fantasy points in eight straight games helping his FanDuel owners.
G – Semyon Varlamov ($8,400): Looking for goalies that are going up against a team that has struggled to score goals turned us to Varlamov. Varlamov will look to lead his Avalanche against a Red Wings team that has scored the second fewest amounts of goals in the NHL.
