Strategies
The weekend has arrived with a full slate of college football games to watch today and some NFL FanDuel to prep for tomorrow. That being said this weeks lineup of NFL games is interesting as we see a few solid fantasy matchups that feature some very high over/under lines.
One of those contests is the New England Patriots verse Indianapolis Colts game set for Sunday Night Football. While we loved Tom Brady and Julian Edelman as well as Rob Gronkowski we have decided going in to avoid both of them since we expect to be used in a high percentage of lineups.
Another matchup that could present some big time fantasy performances is the Baltimore Ravens verse San Francisco 49ers contest on Sunday. Each of these teams have had their struggles of late on defense including a Ravens secondary that was scorched last week by the Cleveland Browns offense.
That is where we started for our week 6 NFL FanDuel lineup starting with Colin Kaepernick who should have a chance to make some plays. If not don’t expect to see him as the starter for much longer in San Francisco. Along with the 49ers quarterback we like Torrey Smith, Anquan Boldin as well as tight end Vernon Davis who has been battling injury concerns.
That being said here is our week 6 NFL FanDuel lineup with options.
Quarterback – Colin Kaepernick ($7,300): While we thought about using Tom Brady in the end this 49ers/Ravens matchup could be high scoring if neither defense stops one another. This is also a big time fantasy gamble that could reward us if Kaepernick finally puts together a big game against a team that is allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks according to ESPN.
Other top Fantasy Quarterback Options include Joe Flacco, Tom Brady and Jay Cutler.
Running Back – Javorius Allen ($5,100): Allen is a deep fantasy sleeper this week with no word on whether or not Justin Forsett will suit up. That being said the 49ers defense has allowed six rushing touchdowns through the first five weeks of the season.
Running Back – Matt Forte ($8,400): We expect the Chicago Bears to continue to find ways to use Forte in the offense this week against the Detroit Lions. The Lions have allowed the second most rushing touchdowns in the NFL with seven entering this weekend.
Other top Fantasy Running Back Options include Eddie Lacy, C.J. Anderson and Arian Foster (monitor injury).
Wide Receiver – Torrey Smith ($6,200): The 49ers receiver will face off against his former team for the first time this weekend. It should be a perfect opportunity for him to make some plays as we have seen the Ravens give up some big time fantasy performances over the past few weeks to opposing receivers.
Wide Receiver – Keshawn Martin ($4,500): While we love the top options for the Patriots we elected to go with Martin this weekend against the Colts. Much like Allen, Martin is a deep sleeper who saw the field all but nine offensive snaps last week.
Wide Receiver – Calvin Johnson ($8,200): Johnson has not lived up to the hype of being a top flight fantasy wide receiver. While some of it might be him slowing down much of it has to do with the struggling Lions offense including quarterback Matt Stafford. Johnson has put together big games in the past against divisional rivals the Bears.
Other top Fantasy Wide Receiver Options include Demaryius Thomas, T.Y. Hilton, Kamar Aiken, A.J. Green, Brandon Marshall and Jarius Wright.
Tight End – Rob Gronkowski ($8,200): Despite not using Brady at quarterback we elected to go with the top tight end this weekend against the Colts. Gronk has 375 yards to go with four touchdowns through four games this season.
Other top Fantasy Tight End options include Zach Ertz, Jordan Cameron and Crockett Gilmore (monitor injury status).
Kicker – Stephen Gostkowski ($5,100): Gostkowski is an easy decision at the kicker position in a contest slated to be the highest scoring contest around the NFL this weekend. Add in the fact this game will be played in a dome makes the Patriots kicker the top option.
Other top Fantasy Kicker options include Justin Tucker, Nick Novak and Mason Crosby.
Defense – Denver Broncos ($5,000): Now we saw the Browns offense torch the Ravens last week but we don’t expect that to be the case against one of the top defenses in the NFL. Look for the Broncos to get to Josh McCown forcing the Browns quarterback to make some mistakes.
Other top Fantasy Defense options include Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.
