The second week of the 2016 NFL Fantasy Football season has arrived as the weekend arrives. This gives us a chance to take a look at some key fantasy plays based on their upcoming matchups that could help deliver us all a big time win in our season long leagues as well as on FanDuel.
One player we really like in week 2 is quarterback Matt Ryan as he looks to help his Atlanta Falcons bounce back against the Oakland Raiders. Despite their week 1 win, the Raiders defense struggled as Drew Brees picked apart their secondary in route to 423 yards to go along with four touchdowns.
Along with Ryan the other key fantasy plays from this contest include his go to wide receiver Julio Jones as well as Mohamed Sanu. Much of Brees production went to two receivers who finished with a combined 15 catches for 315 yards to go along with three touchdown grabs.
Now while we love the idea of going with a Ryan/Jones or Ryan/Sanu connection there are also a bunch of other top fantasy options to consider in week 2. Here is our list of top fantasy matchups to consider.
Rashad Jennings, New York Giants: Jennings might have the best matchup of all the running backs heading into week 2 going up against the New Orleans Saints. The same Saints defense that was scorched for 167 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in their week 1 loss. Add in the fact Jennings can be a key factor in the teams passing game makes him a great matchup in week 1.
Trevor Siemian – Emmanuel Sanders – C.J. Anderson, Denver Broncos: Looking to ride a big time fantasy stack? If so this could be the stack for you as the trio will look to put up some big time fantasy numbers against a very bad Indianapolis Colts team that allowed 448 yards and a NFL high 39 points. Now in daily fantasy leagues Siemian would be a perfect fantasy option in GPP Tournament formats.
Denard Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars: Now for fantasy owners of T.J. Yeldon this is a perfect week as well. That being said we like Robinson as a dual threat type of back that will look to take advantage of a San Diego Chargers defense that allowed Spencer Ware to pull in seven catches for 129 yards including three big plays of over 20 plus yards.
Steve Smith, Baltimore Ravens: Smith is another big time fantasy play at the wide receiver position despite his low production in week 1. This week the veteran will look to bounce back against a Cleveland Browns team that struggled to slow down Jordan Matthews in week 1. In 2015, Smith managed to pull in 13 passes for 191 yards in two games against the Browns.
Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys: Here is another interesting fantasy matchups as we expect a ton of points to be scored between the Cowboys and NFC East rivals the Washington Redskins. That type of hype has us looking to Elliott to post his first three digit rushing total of the season against a Redskins defense that allowed 5.5 yards per carry to DeAngelo Williams in week 1.
Other teams we suggest building your daily fantasy lineups around include Tennessee Titans (Detroit Lions allowed 450 yards of total offense in week 1), Tampa Bay Buccaneers/Arizona Cardinals (1 of 2 games with an over/under total of 50 or more) and Baltimore Ravens Running Backs (Browns allowed 133 yards on the ground in week 1).
