Strategies
The time has arrived for another action packed Sunday of NFL action for fantasy owners to capitalize on. This weekend the lineup of games presents us all with some top tier fantasy matchups as well as a few difficult decisions. Along with that week 5 of the 2016 NFL Season is filled with some prime time Fantasy Sleepers to ride to victory.
At the front of the list of fantasy sleepers sits quarterback Paxton Lynch as he has a very good chance to start this Sunday for the Denver Broncos. Lynch who would be making his first career start will have an ideal matchup against an Atlanta Falcons team that ranks first in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks.
Through their first four games, the Falcons defense has allowed 1,293 passing yards to go with a league high 13 touchdown passes. Over that stretch, the Falcons allowed Drew Brees throw for 376 yards with with three touchdowns while Jameis Winston (281 yards with four touchdown passes) and Derek Carr (299 yards with 3 touchdown passes) each lit up the fantasy numbers.
While there is an outside chance Trevor Siemian will start but if he does not we suggest looking at Lynch for a deep fantasy sleeper. Here are the rest of the week 5 NFL Fantasy Sleepers we like.
Fantasy Sleepers – Running Back
Kenneth Dixon, Baltimore Ravens: While we expect a ton of daily fantasy owners to load up on Terrance West this weekend. For us we like Dixon as a dark Fantasy Sleeper who could put up some big time fantasy numbers in his first week on the field. This weekend he will get a shot to face off against a Washington Redskins defense that has allowed the second must rushing touchdowns in the NFL.
DeAndre Washington, Oakland Raiders: The time is now for Washington to take advantage of his opportunity as Latavius Murray has been ruled out. Washington will have the perfect opportunity this weekend against a San Diego Chargers team that has allowed a combined eight touchdowns to running backs over the first four weeks.
Other fantasy sleeper running backs for week 5 include Bobby Rainey (PPR Leagues) and James White.
Fantasy Sleepers – Wide Receivers
Griff Whalen, San Diego Chargers: Whalen is a deep fantasy sleeper option this week after being signed by the Chargers just a few weeks ago. It is a perfect situation for a wide receiver playing in a high passing attack against an Oakland Raiders team that has allowed the most passing yards in the NFL. Now we suggest monitoring the status heading into the game but if he is active we like him for a chance to pay off for people looking to cash in on GPP Tournaments.
Victor Cruz, New York Giants: Could the Giants be looking to move on from their star wide receiver? It seems over the past few weeks it has been all about him. This weekend the team will need to throw the ball around to keep up with the fast paced offense of the Green Bay Packers.
Kendall Wright, Tennessee Titans: After appearing in his first game of the season last weekend Wright will look to take advantage of a Miami Dolphins defense that has struggled this season. Entering this contest, the Dolphins have allowed 800 yards receiving and four touchdown receptions.
Other fantasy sleeper wide receivers for week 5 include Dorial Green-Beckham, Chris Hogan and Tyler Boyd.
Fantasy Sleepers – Tight Ends
Jeff Heuerman, Denver Broncos: Going up against a high powered offense like the Atlanta Falcons the Broncos will need to move the ball to keep up on the score board. One of those ways will be through the tight end position against a Falcons team that has allowed the most yards (340) and second most touchdown (5) to the position.
Other fantasy sleeper tight ends for week 5 include Jesse James and C.J. Uzomah.
