Strategies
The 2016 MLB Schedule bounces back tonight with a solid nine game slate on tap for Daily Fantasy Baseball owners to build around. The slate includes some solid but interesting options taking to the mound including both Stephen Strasburg and Chris Archer while someone like Yu Darvish looks like a great option for cash game lineups.
Now for us the starting pitcher slot is the key tonight to taking home some cash in both Cash and GPP Tournaments. In all only five of the 18 starters taking the hill tonight are averaging over 35 fantasy points per contest. At the front of our list is Archer who will look to take advantage of a Kansas City Royals team that still struggles to find consistency at the plate.
Meanwhile at the plate one game we really love tonight and expect to see some fireworks is the Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers contest at Miller Park. Last night these two teams combined for 25 hits and 18 runs. We expect the same tonight as both teams send starters to the hill that have the ability to give up a ton of runs.
With that said here are a few players we really like tonight to build a solid stack around.
Mookie Betts – Back to Back 30 plus fantasy performances
Keon Broxton – GPP Upside including two 30 plus fantasy points over last five
Travis Shaw – Double Digit potential night in and night out
Josh Rutledge – Cheaper alternative to Shaw to save some salary cap space
Here are four contests we suggest staying clear of or at least ensuring the rain will be light enough to allow a full game to be played.
Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies
Chicago White Sox @ Baltimore Orioles
Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates
Miami Marlins @ New York Mets
Here is a deeper look at our top Daily Fantasy Baseball Options for Wednesday May 10th, 2017.
Starting Pitcher – Chris Archer
Archer is looking for a big time performance and tonight’s contest with the struggling Kansas City Royals could be that time. The Royals enter this game ranked near the bottom of every major offensive category including runs scored, home runs and team OPS. This opens up the door for Archer to have another 40 plus outing of the season after coming off a 46 point start in his last outing. Another guy to consider is Jason Hammel tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays as they have also struggled at times at the plate and rank near the top in strikeouts.
Top Tier Option: Yu Darvish
Mid Tier Option: Derek Holland
Fantasy Sleeper: Jason Hammel or Tom Koehler
Catcher – Yasmani Grandal
Here we go with another value play at the catcher position as we turn to the Los Angeles Dodgers starter. Grandal has been hot of late riding a four game hitting streak that includes seven hits over 19 at bats including one double, one home run and five runs driven in. Along with Grandal the other solid option tonight is either Omar Narvaez or Geovandy depending who gets the start against Phil Hughes of the Minnesota Twins.
Mid Tier Option: Omar Narvaez (Monitor Lineup Situation)
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Chris Hermann or James McCann
First Base – Chris Davis
Here is the one position you could go all in on with someone like Paul Goldschmidt or take a deep flyer on someone like Chris Davis for a high risk high reward type option. For us we elected to spend freely in the outfield while also going with Archer on the mound so it locks up a ton of our money. This turns us to Davis as he is always a power threat coming to the plate as well as solid option to score runs as he been award a free pass five times over his last five games.
Top Tier Option: Paul Goldschmidt & Jose Abreu
Mid Tier Options: Edwin Encarnacion
Fantasy Sleeper: Brandon Moss
Second Base – Rougned Odor
While the Texas Rangers second baseman has struggled at times this season he still brings a GPP upside night in and night out. This includes when he has a chance to hit against right handed starters which he will have the luxury of doing tonight. On the season, Odor is hitting nearly fifty points higher against righties with all six of his home runs on the season. Meanwhile Jonathan Schoop has played himself back into our options as he has seen his fantasy salary drop back down to the $3k mark.
Top Tier Option: Daniel Murphy
Mid Tier Option: Jonathan Schoop
Fantasy Sleeper: Derek Dietrich
Third Base – Josh Rutledge
For us we could have gone a few directions tonight including with someone like Manny Machado or even Travis Shaw. In the end we like the fantasy value Rutledge brings to the plate tonight in a contest that should see a ton of scoring chances after last nights 18 run team outburst. Meanwhile on the other side of the diamond we could have easily gone with Shaw who has back to back double digit fantasy performances and four over his last seven games played.
Top Tier Option: Manny Machado
Mid Tier Option: Travis Shaw & Anthony Rendon
Fantasy Sleeper: Martin Prado
Short Stop – Chris Owings
Much like the Red Sox/ Brewers matchup the Arizona Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers is another matchup that could see a ton of big plays take place. This turned us to Owings who is having another strong season at the plate hitting .307 with five home runs. Much of that power damage has come at home this season where the game will be tonight. Owings is hitting .349 at home this season with four of his five home runs while driving in 18 of his 21 runs.
Top Tier Opton: Xander Bogaerts
Mid Tier Option: Erick Aybar
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Orlando Arcia & Jose Iglesias
Outfielders – Mookie Betts, Yasmany Tomas & Jim Adduci
For us we turned to both of the games we expect to see a ton of scoring in to fill a variety of our needs including the outfield slot. For us we can’t look past Betts who continues to put up some big time numbers while producing for his Daily Fantasy Baseball owners. The Red Sox outfielder is seven for his last ten with three doubles, two home runs to go with five runs driven in. Meanwhile Tomas should benefit from playing at home where he is hitting .316 on the year with 17 of his 21 runs driven in. The last of our outfield options rounds out our roster while fitting us in at the salary cap number and that is with the Detroit Tigers outfielder. Adduci should see another start tonight picking up hits in three of his last four games while socring three runs and driving in three.
Top Tier Option: Bryce Harper & Ryan Braun
Mid Tier Option: Adam Jones, Jayson Werth & Keon Broxton
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Colby Rasmus & Hyun Soo Kim
