Strategies
The 2017 MLB Schedule thins down tonight with only a seven game slate on tap for Daily Fantasy Baseball owners to capitalize on. The thin slate will make it a little more difficult to build around but the options are still their tonight with some solid value both on the mound and at the plate.
For us tonight’s lineup will simply come down to finding that correct pitcher to build around. Overall with only one player costing over the $8k mark we expect to see a ton of usage on Carlos Martinez making him a great Cash play but one we recommend staying away from in GPP formats. This opens up the door for a few lower cost options.
One of those options is Junior Guerra who will be looking to capitalize against a San Francisco Giants team that has struggled on offense for most of the season. Meanwhile someone like Mike Fiers despite the high home run totals could be another solid option against another low power offense like the Kansas City Royals. With that said here is a quick look at three MLB Stacks we like tonight on FanDuel.
3 MLB Stacks We Like For Monday June 5th, 2017
Carlos Beltran / Brian McCann / Carlos Correa: When you look at this stack we could have added a fourth member from the Houston Astros lineup tonight against Ian Kennedy. The Royals starter enters this game allowing at least four runs in fourth straight games while allowing six home runs over that same stretch. Add that with the fact Beltran and McCann each have two career home runs makes this a solid stack.
Zack Cozart / Scotter Gennett: While this combination might be facing the top starter of the night they do have some success against him. Entering tonight the Cincinati Reds teammates are 13 for 42 against Martinez with two home runs and eight runs driven in.
Cesar Hernandez / Cameron Rupp: Hernanez and Rupp enter tonight with 16 hits over their first 48 at bats against Bartolo Colon. Add that success with the fact that Colon has been inconsistent for most of the 2017 MLB Season opens up the door for these two options.
Here are our Daily Fantasy Baseball Options for Monday June 5th, 2017.
Starting Pitcher – Junior Guerra
For us Guerra is a pure GPP option while we strongly suggest riding Carlos Martinez in Cash lineups. While Guerra has a small sample size of production this season he has shown his ability to strike out batters helping him to post 29 and 40 fantasy points over his last two starts. Along with that he should benefit from pitching against a San Francisco Giants team that ranks 28th in runs, 30th in home runs and 29th in team batting average.
Top Tier Option: Carlos Martinez (Cash Option)
Mid Tier Option: Mike Fiers
Fantasy Sleeper: Nick Pivetta
Catcher – Cameron Rupp
For us we could have gone two directions tonight at the catcher position including going with Brian McCann. In the end we valued the additional salary cap space we gain from going with Rupp to bolster our outfield depth. Rupp enters tonight picking up five hits over 12 career at bats against Bartolo Colon.
Top Tier Option: Salvador Perez
Mid Tier Option: Brian McCann
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Stephen Vogt
First Base –Matt Adams
In the end we just couldn’t pass up Adams who enters tonight’s contest red hot at the plate. The Atlanta Braves first baseman has hits in four of his last five games including back to back two hit performances while picking up three home runs over those two contests. Other options we considered included Marwin Gonzalez, Eric Thames and Adrian Gonzalez.
Top Tier Option: Marwin Gonzalez
Mid Tier Options: Eric Thames
Fantasy Sleeper: Adrian Gonzalez
Second Base – Cesar Hernandez
We continued to play the numbers with our play of Hernandez tonight at second base. The Phillies second baseman has had some production against Colon in his career picking up nine hits over 26 career at bats. Hernandez also enters tonight’s contest with hits in five of his last six games including two multi hit performances over the way.
Top Tier Option: Jose Altuve
Mid Tier Option: Jonathan Villar & Ian Happ
Fantasy Sleeper: Jed Lowrie
Third Base – Jedd Gyorko
The money is there to spend as high or low as you want at the third base slot with a solid list of options to build around. While we looked at Travis Shaw and even Kris Bryant we opted to go with the Gyorko tonight as he gets the advantage of hitting in one of the top offensive ball parks in all of baseball. Meanwhile the step down frees up additional space to use on a player like Khris Davis or Marcell Ozuna.
Top Tier Option: Travis Shaw & Kris Bryant
Mid Tier Option: Alex Bregman & Maikel Franco
Short Stop – Carlos Correa
After budget spending at a few of the other key positions it opened the cash to go with Correa as one of our Daily Fantasy Baseball options of the night. The Astros short stop enters tonight riding a ten game hitting streak while picking up at least two hits in seven of those contets. Correa has also homered in four of his last six games total while pushing his season total to 11.
Top Tier Option:
Mid Tier Option: Andrelton Simmons
Fantasy Sleeper Option: J.J. Hardy
Outfielders – Khris Davis, Carlos Beltran & Kyle Schwarber
When we started to build our lineup the first outfielder we selected based on his career production against Ian Kennedy. Beltran enters tonight with four total extra base hits including two home runs in 24 career at bats against the Royals starter. Meanwhile Davis and Schwarber both offer the high reward type option we like in our GPP lineups. Meanwhile we could turn to a few other players as well including someone like Giancarlo Stanton.
Top Tier Option: Giancarlo Stanton
Mid Tier Option: Chris Taylor & Ender Inciarte
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Alex Gordon/Jorge Soler
