Strategies
The start of NFL Training Camps is just around the corner as we start to turn our attention to the upcoming Fantasy Football Season. For many this includes both daily fantasy football as well as season long leagues where we all spend the next two months planning for our upcoming drafts.
For us we plan on focusing on a variety of areas over the next few months to help you not only plan for your daily fantasy football lineups but for your fantasy drafts. Today we are turning our attention to the 2017 NFL Draft Class and which of these rookies will are worth looking at during your draft.
Now before we get to who we like and who we would pass on it may simply come down to the type of league your in. If you draft each season you might not take a risk on a rookie at all while fantasy football owners in keeper leagues might look to find the next Dak Prescott. Let’s take a look at the 2017 NFL Rookies we like entering the 2017 NFL Season.
Top NFL Rookies Worth Drafting In Fantasy Football In 2017
Quarterbacks
Deshaun Watson
The quarterback class of 2017 is one of the weaker classes we have seen over the past few years and one that fantasy football owners may want to steer clear of. That being said one option that might be worth taking a flyer on late or in a keeper league is Watson. The former Clemson Tigers quarterback has the talent to put up numbers and will join a team that is solid on the offensive front including a pure playmaker at the wide receiver position in DeAndre Hopkins.
Wide Receivers
Top Picks – Mike Williams & John Ross
Mid Picks – DeDe Westbrook & Chris Godwin
Sleeper Picks – Mack Hollins & Kenny Golladay
For us we love the wide receiver class this year as we see a ton of talent across the board. Now for many they may be upset with me leaving Corey Davis off the board but we still have questions about how the Tennessee Titans offense will move going into the 2017 NFL Season. That being said both Williams and Ross will join teams that have been known to throw the ball while both having playmakers in Keenan Allen and A.J. Green taking the pressure off of them. While we love both of those options in early rounds of your fantasy drafts they are also big time options in keeper leagues. Falling behind them in the mid to later rounds of your fantasy drafts is Westbrook and Godwin who will both have a chance to be involved from day one. For Westbrook he will join a Jacksonville Jaguars team that will have one of the better groups of wide receivers that includes Allen Robinson while Godwin should compliment both Mike Evans and OJ Howard in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers passing attack. Meanwhile a few sleepers are Hollins and Golladay they both have size and enter offenses that could use a true red zone threat.
Running Backs
Samaje Perine & Alvin Kamara
Now don’t take me wrong we love Leonard Fournette but the early indications is fantasy owners will be reaching to as early as the first round on him. That for us is a big time gamble as he joins a Jacksonville Jaguars team that may have big time questions on the offensive line and a team that has had a difficulty running the ball over the past few seasons. This helped us turn to Perine who will enter a Washington Redskins attack that has had both a good passing attack and running game. Than you have Kamara who should have a ton of opportunites to score on a New Orleans Saints offense that likes to move the ball down the field. If Kamara can fit into the the passing attack he should see a ton of attention from Drew Brees.
Tight Ends
O.J. Howard, David Njoku & Evan Engram
In the end you just can’t look past Howard as potentially being the 2017 NFL Rookie Of The Year. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star joins an offense that has includes Jameis Winston at quarterback and Mike Evans at wide receiver. We expect Howard to see a ton of passes his way this season making him a true threat from day one. Meanwhile despite struggling on offense at times the Cleveland Browns have relied heavily on their tight ends over the past few seasons and that will be true this season making Njoku a solid tight end option. The last of our tight ends we like in this class is Engram who joins a New York Giants team that might have the best one two punch at wide receiver with Odell Beckham Jr and Brandon Marshall. That type of talent should allow Eli Manning to find Engram in the middle of the field as well as the red zone.
For now we can love them or hate them but till they put the pads on week 1 all of these options are just a big time question mark! Who will be the best rookie fantasy football option in 2017?
