Foles, Brady & Cousins Struggle in Week 4

The quarterback tandem of Tom Brady, Nick Foles and Kirk Cousins couldn’t get it going for fantasy owners in week 4. All three of these quarterbacks have had success at points with Brady being the most polished and experienced of the three. That wasn’t the case during week 4 of the NFL Season as all three of them made the list of worst fantasy performances.

Brady and the New England Patriots traveled to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. The Patriots quarterback managed to complete 14 of 23 passes for 159 yards and a touchdown but committed three turnovers. One of the three turnovers was a late interception thrown to Husain Abdullah who returned it for a 39 yard touchdown.

The 15th year quarterback has shown at times this season he can put up points for fantasy owners but the talent around him on the offensive side of the ball has not been very good. In four games this season Brady has thrown for 791 yards and four touchdowns. This is the first time since his 2010 season he failed to reach the 1,000 yard mark in the team’s first four games. This is only the fourth time in his career not accomplishing the feat during a season he started and played the entire season.

Out West Foles let his fantasy owners down for the first time since really taking over as the starting quarterback in Philadelphia. Prior to Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, Foles had three straight 320 yard performances to start the 2014 NFL season. On Sunday the trend would come to a halt as the 49ers defense would limit his opportunities.

Foles finished the day completing 21 of 43 passes for 195 yards and two interceptions. The two interception game was his first one since November 18th, 2012 against the Washington Redskins. The Eagles quarterback should have an opportunity to bounce back in week 5 against the St. Louis Rams.

The last of the quarterbacks to make the list was Kirk Cousins who is filling in for the Washington Redskins. Since taking over for the injured Robert Griffin III, many around town as well as gurus have appointed him the answer in the nation’s capital. Much of that talk has been quiet this week after his 53 quarterback rating on Thursday Night Football.

Cousins finished the game completing 19 of 33 passes for 257 yards and one touchdown. The negative side of the performance included four interceptions and one lost fumble leading to the blowout loss to division rivals the New York Giants. The struggles could continue in week five on Monday Night Football against a very good Seattle Seahawks defense.
