The New Year has arrived as we all have our set for an amazing stretch run of Fantasy Basketball. This includes looking forward to cashing in big tonight on FanDuel with a solid eight game slate to build around.
For tonight we continue to analyze different trends we continue to see night in and night out from the top FanDuel lineups taking home some big time GPP tournaments. Looking at a few of those lineups last night here’s a few of the quick trends we noticed.
Trends From Winning GPP Lineups on Monday January 2nd, 2017
No point guard salary over $7,400 on 3 winning lineups
2 of those 3 lineups had a least 1 point guard under the $6k mark
2 of those 3 lineups had 1 top tier option with salary over $8,500
All 3 winning lineups had 2 players with salaries at or below the $5k mark
Now looking at these trends it clearly continues to point to the fact that building around two top tier fantasy options is not a winning combination. Along with that we continue to see consistency with more winning GPP lineups spending in the $6k-8k range then having to build around more than two fantasy sleeper options. These trends should continue to help our Daily Fantasy Basketball Rankings as we continue to build fantasy options each day.
With all that said we strongly recommend continuing to look at the games Las Vegas has predicted with the highest scoring combinations. With that said here is a quick look at those contests tonight to help us build that winning GPP lineup.
In all 12 of the 16 teams in action tonight have set scoring totals of at least 101 points or higher.
With all that said here is our top Daily Fantasy Basketball Options for January 3rd, 2017.
Point Guards – Goran Dragic & Reggie Jackson
While this is early in the day all indications point to Dragic returning to the lineup tonight for the Miami Heat against his former Suns team. If Dragic is in the lineup we strongly recommend building around him while his teammate Tyler Johnson is a strong candidate to replace him if he misses tonight’s contest. Tonight’s Suns/Heat matchup features two teams that like to move the ball while the Suns rank second of the teams in action tonight in fantasy points allowed to the position. Meanwhile Jackson has seen his minutes increase while posting back to back 34 point fantasy performances.

Shooting Guards – Tony Allen & Will Barton
Among the options we like at shooting guard to go along with our two options include Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. For us we turned our attention to these two players to based on their matchups against teams that have struggled against opposing shooting guards as well as their high upside. Allen posted a 24 point fantasy performance earlier this season against the Los Angeles Lakers while Barton has three 30 plus fantasy performances over his last ten games.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: DeMar DeRozan
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Zach LaVine & Devin Booker
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Wayne Ellington
Small Forwards – Andrew Wiggins & Gordon Hayward
The small forward position might be the easiest of the FanDuel options tonight as both Wiggins and Hayward have very favorable fantasy matchups. For Wiggins he will look to reproduce his 52 point fantasy performance from earlier this season against the same Philadelphia 76ers team while Hayward faces a Boston Celtics team that ranks second in fantasy points allowed to opposing small forwards of the teams in action tonight.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Kawhi Leonard
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Harrison Barnes & Otto Porter
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Vince Carter
Power Forwards – Zach Randolph & Tobias Harris
Now depending what direction you go at a few of the other slots you could be leaving upwards of $1k left to spend when its all done. For us we like the combination of both Randolph and Harris tonight while we also like LaMarcus Aldridge as a more expensive option at the position. Randolph will look to take advantage of a struggling Lakers defense. Meanwhile Harris will look to continue his recent success as he has posted over 32 fantasy points in four of his last five games.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: LaMarcus Aldridge
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Dirk Nowitzki
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Derrick Favors & James Johnson
Center Option – Karl-Anthony Towns
It is hard to look past Towns tonight based on his potential matchup with a very bad 76ers team. The same 76ers team that he posted 25 points and 10 rebounds against back in November in route to a 40 point fantasy performance. Now while we love Cousins we just can’t see valuing his high salary cap number without costing us some talent on the roster.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Karl-Anthony Towns
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Marc Gasol & Rudy Gobert
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Willie Reed (Whiteside is out) & Tyson Chandler
