The NFL schedule is front and center this Thanksgiving as it delivers a prime time triple header for daily fantasy football owners to cash in on. The NFL action gets underway at 12:30pm ET as the Minnesota Vikings head to Detroit to take on the Lions in an NFC North showdown. Each of these two teams have some solid playmakers starting at the quarterback position. For the Vikings, Case Keenum looks to post his third straight 17 plus fantasy performance while the Lions Matthew Stafford is coming of his15 straight 17 plus performance.
The NFL action doesn’t slow down there as the Los Angeles Chargers head to Dallas to take on a struggling Cowboys team to round out the afternoon action. The last of the three NFL games on Thanksgiving Day will kick off at 8:30pm Et in our Nation’s Capital as the Washington Redskins welcome the New York Giants to town.
All three off these games have some solid fantasy options but the final outcome could come down to the which fantasy playmakers find ways to make big plays against the others defense. Before we get to our lineup options for Week 12 of the 2017 NFL Schedule, here is a look at some of the key defensive numbers for each of these six teams.
Minnesota Vikings –5th fewest yards of offensive allowed in the NFL
Detroit Vikings – 6th in fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs.
Los Angeles Chargers – 3rd in the fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs
Dallas Cowboys – 6th in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers
New York Giants – 3rd in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks
Washington Redskins – 31st most points allowed per game in the NFL
Here is our Daily Fantasy Football Options we like for Thanksgiving Day November 23rd, 2017
2017 NFL Daily Fantasy Football Options Week12
Quarterback – Kirk Cousins
The Washington Redskins host their NFC East counter parts on Thanksgiving Night in what looks to be a very good matchup against a very shaky New York Giants defense. Entering this contest, the Giants have allowed the second most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks and third most touchdown passes (20). Add that with the fact that Cousins has been very good this year against bad defenses should make for him to be a lock in most lineups. If you are looking to take a risk, look to Manning who may be asked to throw the ball a ton to keep up with the Redskins.
Other Top Quarterback Options – Case Keenum
Sleeper Options – Eli Manning
Potential Bust – Dak Prescott
Running Backs –Melvin Gordon &Jerick McKinnon
With no Ezekiel Elliott on the field this Thanksgiving Day, we have elected to turn to the other side of as Melvin Gordon looks like the top option. The Chargers running back has topped the double digit mark in three of his last five games while topping the 20 point mark in three of his last six games. Meanwhile, after a big game by Latavius Murray we expect to see his fantasy usage rise this week. That being said, McKinnon should continue to see the ball enough to warrant a start.
Other Top Running Back Options – N/A
Sleeper Options – Rod Smith & Wayne Gallman
Potential Bust – Latavius Murray
Wide Receivers – Keenan Allen, Josh Doctson& Kenny Golladay
This Thanksgiving the key to your lineup may come from the wide receiver position with a lack of top tier running backs on the slate. While all eyes will be on Adam Thielen as he looks to continue his recent success, we have elected to turn away from both him as well as Stefon Diggs while also having concerns about Dez Bryant. This opened up the door for us to turn to Allen as our top option as he looks to take advantage of a struggling Cowboys defense that has allowed 13 receiving touchdowns to wide receivers this season. Following Allen, we elected to stack Doctson with Cousins as well as their teammate Vernon Davis. Doctson enters Week 12 coming off a solid performance against a solid New Orleans Saints defense. Over the past two weeks the Redskins receiver has been targeted 14 times. Rounding out the roster is the Lions home run threat Golladay who is slowly getting healthy. Despite pulling in just four catches over his lat two games, Golladay has posted 116 yards.
Other Top Wide Receiver Options – Stefon Diggs
Sleeper Options – Roger Lewis &Tavarres King
Potential Bust – Adam Thielen
Tight End – Vernon Davis
The Redskins veteran has been a key weapon in the Redskins passing attack and that should continue this week against a very bad Giants defense. Entering Week 12 the Giants have allowed the most touchdown receptions to opposing tight ends (10) and third most receiving yards (752) to opposing tight ends.
Other Top Tight End Options – Jason Witten
Sleeper Option – Antonio Gates
Potential Bust – Evan Engram
Kicker – Mike Nugent
The kicker position is wide open for Thanksgiving Day as all six options could have an opportunity to put points on the board. For us we turned to Nugent based on the fact this is one of two games being played in door. Nugent enters this game with double digit fantasy performances in two of his first four games with the Cowboys this season. You could go with Matt Prater but you would have to cut some cost.
Other Kicker Options – Matt Prater
Defense – Washington Redskins
After seeing the Giants struggle to move the ball last week the question can be asked about moving on from Eli Manning. The veteran quarterback has been very inconsistent for his fantasy owners and that could continue this weekend despite facing a Redskins team that ranks near the top in points allowed in the NFL. We also strongly considered going with the Giants as a team that could surprise us this Thanksgiving Day.
Other Defensive Options –New York Giants
