Strategies
The weekend has arrived as we all get ready to cash in on some FanDuel with a full lineup of games over the weekend. For us we have decided to take this just one day at a time and focus on the 14 game lineup that will be taken the field around Major League Baseball on Friday night.
A lineup of games that delivers one of the best nights of starting pitching options that we can remember in a very long time. Starting with the Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw who hasn’t allowed a single run over his last four games. In those four games, Kershaw finished with 26, 26, 24 and 19 fantasy points. Overall he has yielded at least 15 fantasy points in seven of his last ten starts while picking up 13 fantasy points in each of the other three games.
While all eyes will be on Kershaw for the Dodgers so will many of the fantasy lineups that are submitted. We love Kershaw Friday night but are a little worried that so will many of the other fantasy owners plus he does warrant a salary of $13,400 over $2,300 more than the next starter on the list.
The top tier fantasy starter options don’t stop there as we also have a nice selection of guys around the league to build from on Friday night. That list includes Jacob deGrom for the New York Mets, Jose Fernandez for the Miami Marlins, Dallas Keuchel for the Houston Astros, Gerrit Cole for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cole Hamels for the Texas Rangers and Sonny Gray for the Oakland A’s. We could have went on but we elected to stop there for now.
For us another idea is to go cheaper with a guy like Kevin Gausman who is coming off back to back double digit fantasy performances. This would give us a ton of extra cash to spread around to our fantasy lineup. In the end monitor the weather for each and every game as well as the MLB lineups when they start to hit.
Here is our FanDuel lineup for Friday 7th, 2015.
Starting Pitcher – Jacob deGrom ($11,100): While we do love the idea of using Kershaw tomorrow night we just don’t like the idea of him being used upwards of 40% in some fantasy leagues on FanDuel. The New York Mets starter has four straight starts with double digit fantasy numbers.
Option 2- Clayton Kershaw ($13,400) & Option 3 – Kevin Gausman ($6,300)
Catcher – Yadier Molina ($2,200): When we build our fantasy lineups around an expensive starting pitcher we tend to look for a cheap option at catcher. Molina has had a disappointing season at the plate but that won’t stop us from using him.
Option 2 – Chris Stewart ($2,200) & Option 3 – Russell Martin ($3,100)
First Base – Chris Davis ($4,600): We elected to go with one of the hottest players in the game and that is Chris Davis for the Baltimore Orioles. Davis has six home runs and 19 runs driven in over his last ten games with five games with at least 6.75 fantasy points.
Option 2 – Adam LaRoche ($2,200) & Option 3 – Paul Goldschmdit ($4,000)
Second Base – Scooter Gennett ($2,300): The Milwuakee Brewers second baseman entered Thursday riding a four game hitting streak. Add in the fact he is seven for 19 off of Lance Lynn with two extra base hits makes him a great FanDuel bargain option.
Option 2 – Brian Dozier ($3,300) & Option 3 – Jonathan Schoop ($2,400)
Third Base – Adrian Beltre ($3,600): The Texas Rangers star has been hot of late picking up his third career cycle. Now he gets a chance to face off against Hisashi Iwakuma on Friday Night whom he is 11 for 30 against with three home runs.
Option 2 – Josh Donaldson ($5,300) & Option 3 – Todd Frazier ($3,300)
Short Stop – Jean Segura ($2,300): We needed another cheap option to free up some salary cap space after spending on a few players on the lineup. That landed us the Brewers short stop who is 10 for 26 against Lynn with two extra base hits.
Option 2 – Troy Tulowitzki ($4,500) & Option 3 – Nick Ahmed ($2,400)
Outfielder – Jayson Werth ($2,300): Werth is putting together a disappointing 2015 campaign including injuries. That won’t stop us from using him on Friday based on his past success against Jorge De La Rosa. Werth is four for 12 lifetime against him with one home run landing him on our FanDuel Bargain list.
Outfielder – Brandon Moss ($2,400): Much like Werth, Moss has hit home runs this year but his average continue sto struggle. That being said we love his value at $2,400 on Friday Night landing him a spot on our FanDuel lineup.
Outfielder – Adam Eaton ($4,100): The Chicago White Sox outfielder has been red hot for the team and his fantasy owners. Eaton has eight games with at least 4.5 fantasy points over his last ten games. That stretch includes four doubles, one triple, one home run, four runs driven in and 12 runs scored.
Option 4 – Bryce Harper ($4,300), Adam Jones ($3,000) & Jose Bautista ($4,900)
