Strategies
The MLB Schedule bounces back with a 12 game slate with little to no rain in the forecast. Tonight’s slate is an interesting one with a solid core of starters taking the hill but without any real cut number one option. Meanwhile at the plate we have a dozen players who are red hot who make tonight’s MLB Schedule a solid daily fantasy baseball night.
On the mound the top option is Jacob deGrom who will be taking the hill tonight for the New York Mets against a San Diego Padres team that ranks 3rd in Major League Baseball with 929 strikeouts. While deGrom benefits from the potential double digit strikeout potential he should also see a ton of usage limiting his potential in GPP formats.
At the plate we have some other difficult decisions, as a few players on tonight’s MLB Schedule are red hot. This includes possible the hottest hitter in all of baseball Nolan Arenado. Arenado enters tonight’s contest at St. Louis batting .441 over his last seven games with five home runs and 16 runs batted in. Other hot options include Jose Altuve, Adam Jones and Michael Conforto.
Now before we get to our Daily Fantasy Baseball Options we like for Monday July 24th, 2017. Lets take a look at a few MLB Stacks we like for tonight.
MLB Stacks To Consider for Monday July 24th, 2017
Nolan Arenado – Charlie Blackmon – Mark Reynolds
Adam Jones – Johnathan Schoop – Welington Castillo
Alex Gordon – Salvador Perez – Brandon Moss
Justin Turner – Cody Bellinger – Yasiel Puig
With that said let’s get to the rest of the guys we like to build our daily fantasy baseball rosters around.
Here is our Daily Fantasy Baseball Options for Monday July 24th, 2017
Starting Pitcher – Gerrit Cole
We are turning back to Cole this time around as he looks to continue his recent success against the San Francisco Giants tonight. Cole who is coming off a 52 point fantasy performance in his last outing against a very good Milwaukee Brewers team has a huge GPP upside tonight against one of the bottom ranked hitting teams in all of baseball. Entering tonight the Giants rank 30th in team OPS, 30th in home runs and 28th in runs scored. Other options facing bottom ranked offenses tonight include Brad Peacock of the Houston Astros and Jacob deGrom.
Top Tier Option: Jacob deGrom
Mid Tier Option: Brad Peacock
Fantasy Sleeper: Francisco Liriano or Blake Snell
Catcher – J.T. Realmuto
Despite loving the idea of using Salvador Perez tonight against Justin Verlander, we couldn’t pass up on Realmuto. The Miami Marlins catcher is a little bit cheaper helping us free additional money up for other positions. Add that with the fact he has posted a .444 wOBA and a .400 BABIP mark against lefties this season makes hi a near lock in most of our GPP lineups tonights.
Top Tier Option: N/A
Mid Tier Option: Yasmani Grandal
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Austin Barnes
First Base – Mark Reynolds
The Rockies first baseman is another solid option as he looks to stay hot against the Cardinals tonight. Entering tonight, Reynolds has hits in five of his last six games while posting double digit fantasy performances in four of them. Along with that success, Reynolds has crushed righties this year posting a .410 wOBA against them to go with a .271 ISOPower mark. This includes going six for 17 off of Mike Leake with three extra base hits.
Top Tier Option: Joey Votto & Paul Goldschmidt
Mid Tier Options: Justin Bour
Fantasy Sleeper: Joey Gallo
Second Base – Jonathan Schoop
We tossed around stacking Altuve with Arenado tonight as our top options. In the end it is hard to look past the Baltimore Orioles second baseman as he continues to be the teams most consistent hitter. Entering tonight, Schoop has been red hot picking up at least two hits in five of his last six games while posting no fewer than 18.9 fantasy points in six straight contests. On the year Schoop has posted a .397 wOBA, .328 BABIP and a .305 ISOPower mark against left handers.
Top Tier Option: Jose Altuve
Mid Tier Option: Dee Gordon & Scooter Gennett
Fantasy Sleeper: Brandon Drury & Chase Utley
Third Base – Nolan Arenado
Now for us this is a no brainer for Cash Lineups but we also love Arenado as one of our key GPP options. The Rockies third baseman might be the hottest hitter in all of baseball as he gets set for tonight’s contest in St. Louis. While a debate could have been made if Bryce Harper was in action tonight but he is not making Arenado our build around option tonight. Entering tonight, Arenado has a .342 wOBA against righties with a .225 ISOPower mark.
Top Tier Option: Justin Turner & Jake Lamb
Mid Tier Option: Kyle Seager
Fantasy Sleeper: Matt Chapman
Short Stop – Marcus Semien
For us tonight we are going to jump on the Oakland A’s short stop simply based on his salary cap number and his recent production. Semien is currently riding a four game hitting streak picking up eight hits over 17 at bats while delivering four solid fantasy performances. While some of the upper end options are nice at short stop tonight we valued the savings as well as a lower usage rate over those options.
Top Tier Option: Corey Seager & Marwin Gonzalez
Mid Tier Option: Elvis Andrus
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Miguel Rojas
Outfielders – Giancarlo Stanton, Yasiel Puig & Alex Gordon
When we looked at the outfield options we tossed around multiple combinations before going with these based on our starting pitching option. Now if you elect to go with a fantasy sleeper on the mound you could up to another mid to upper tier outfield option. For us we couldn’t look past Stanton tonight in Texas while Puig and Gordon have the GPP upside to reward us. Gordon in his career has picked up eight extra base hits off of Justin Verlander including three home runs. Meanwhile we love the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight against Bartolo Colon who has struggled in every outing this season.
Top Tier Option: Charlie Blackmon
Mid Tier Option: Adam Jones & David Peralta
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Norichika Aoki, Gregor Blanco & Jose Osuna
