The 2015 NFL regular season is still over a month away but that won’t stop us from getting excited about the upcoming fantasy action on FanDuel. That excitement grew this past week as FanDuel loaded up the first week of NFL fantasy action including the players salary for the lineups on Sunday and Monday Night.
This gives fantasy football players, fantasy experts and us some time to prepare for the upcoming season. That is where we begin today as we start to break down the salaries of each position for the upcoming season starting with the quarterback position. In the end you should have a good understanding on which players are worth their values while others might be a little high priced.
Entering the 2015 NFL Season Aaron Rodgers takes home the top spot among quarterbacks with a starting salary of $9,700. Rounding out the top five include Andrew Luck ($9,200), Peyton Manning ($9,100), Drew Brees ($8,900) and Russell Wilson ($8,800). That being said lets take a look little deeper look at the quarterback salary on FanDuel.
Worth Every Penny:
Aaron Rodgers ($9,700): Rodgers put together an amazing 2014 NFL season while the Chicago Bears struggled to slow down opposing passing attacks. While the team addressed some needs we aren’t quite sure what to expect from them with John Fox taking over as head coach. Look to start Rodgers week 1 in cash games or 50/50 contests.
Russell Wilson ($8,800): The Seattle Seahawks quarterback is valued a little higher than many might have expected. That being said the dual threat quarterback should see an increase in passing yards and touchdowns with having the best tight end in football in Jimmy Graham coming out of the back field catching passes.
Other quarterbacks making this list include Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan and Tony Romo.
Over Priced Out of the Gate:
Peyton Manning ($9,100): After the way the Denver Broncos played down the stretch mostly from the play of Peyton Manning fantasy owners should be concerned. The team turned to the rushing attack down the stretch. That being said we understand his potential but looks to be a little more expensive then he should be.
Drew Brees ($8,900): While we expect another big season from Drew Brees the question we had after seeing this is how is he going to do after losing both Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills. While we understand the dollar amounts have a lot to do with past success but do they look at who he has to throw the ball to on the team?
Other quarterbacks making this list include Cam Newton, Tony Romo and Jay Cutler.
Potential Fantasy Bargains Week 1:
Blake Bortles ($6,400): Bortles has a difficult matchup in week 1 against a very solid defense in the Carolina Panthers. That being said the Jaguars will return a trio of sophomores for the upcoming season as well as a key offseason acquisition in Julius Thomas to provide another weapon.
Other quarterbacks making this list include Colin Kaepernick, Andy Dalton and Alex Smith.
Deep Fantasy Sleeper Potential Week 1:
Tyrod Taylor ($5,000): The former Baltimore Ravens backup quarterback now gets a shot this offseason to impress new head coach Rex Ryan and land a starting job. Earlier in spring, Taylor was taking reps with the first unit during offseason workouts. Taylor is a dual threat quarterback that might provide a value play in GPP tournaments if he gets the nod week 1.
Just Not Sure What To Think:
Andrew Luck ($9,200): Yes Andrew Luck is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and yea he will be used a ton in week 1. He lands on this list for us as we are just not quite sure what to expect from the Bills defense out of the gate with the new head defensive minded head coach Rex Ryan taking over. That being said we understand if you use him week 1 with newly added weapons Andre Johnson and Frank Gore on the roster.
Other quarterback to make this list include Nick Foles, Sam Bradford, Ryan Tannehill, Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota.
