FanDuel Opening Day 2018 MLB Lineup

The excitement has begun for DFS owners as Opening Day 2018 has arrived to open up the 2018 MLB Schedule. The excitement on March 29th, 2018 should be eventful as all 30 MLB teams will be in play delivering a ton of daily fantasy baseball options for DFS owners to build around. For us we will be paying attention to the MLB Schedule that will begin in the later afternoon (3pm ET) that will feature 24 teams.

Now as the season gets underway there are a ton of question marks for everyone since players have time develop over the offseason, working on a new approach at the plate or on the mound and even just take a big step back from a hot stretch run. While looking at splits from the 2017 MLB season is helpful as well as hitter verse pitcher information, much of that information gives you just an insight.

Before we get to the MLB DFS options we like for Thursday, let’s take a quick look at a few of the contests you will want to take look at based on the ball park they are being played in for your DFS hitters.

Hitter Friendly Ball Park Match Ups for Opening Day

Minnesota Twins @ Baltimore Orioles (Camden Yards)

Houston Astros @ Texas Rangers (Globe Life Park in Arlington)

Colorado Rockies @ Arizona Diamondbacks (Chase Field)

Now that we have taken a look at a few of the matchups to look at when building your DFS lineups on Opening Day, let’s take a look at who we like for our DFS lineup options on Thursday March 29th, 2018.

DFS Starting Pitching Options for Thursday March 29th, 2018

Clayton Kershaw ($11,700): The debate could be made for a few of the other top options including Corey Kluber who we also like on opening day. Another option we liked Max Scherzer will have his start pushed back due to the rain out in Cincinnati. In the end, it will be hard to look past Kershaw on opening day at home in front of his home fans against a team he has had some solid success against in the past.

Other Starting Pitching DFS options include Corey Kluber, Aaron Nola and Dylan Bundy.

DFS Catcher/First Base Options for Thursday March 29th, 2018

Paul Goldschmidt ($4,500): With the new format to the FanDuel structure eliminating the need for both a catcher and first baseman should open up the door for more flexibility. That said, it will be hard to pick against a guy like Paul Goldschmidt at first base who will be hitting at one of the top hitter ball parks in all of baseball. Last season, Goldschmidt hit .321 at Chase Field wit 20 of his 36 home runs while driving in 57 runs.

Other Catcher/First Base DFS options include Jose Abreu, Gary Sanchez, Cody Bellinger and Welington Castillo.

DFS Second Base Options for Thursday March 29th, 2018

Jonathan Schoop ($3,400): The Baltimore Orioles second baseman is coming off a big season in 2017 where he finished the season with 32 home runs and 105 runs batted in. That success continued this spring in Florida opening up the door for Schoop to have another breakout season in 2018. For Schoop, that success could start today as he has success against Jake Odorizi in the past picking up 11 hits over 29 career at bats with five of them going for extra base hits. Another name to consider based on past success is DJ LeMahieu as he looks to take advantage of a hitter friendly ballpark.

Other Second Base DFS options include DJ LeMahieu, Jose Altuve and Jonathan Villar.

DFS Third Base Options for Thursday March 29th, 2018

Maikel Franco ($2,800): Now depending on the direction you elected to move at starting pitcher and second base you may have to go looking for a few bargains One of those options we like on Thursday is Maikel Franco who despite his struggles has the raw potential to hit 30 plus home runs. While he is more of a GPP play, the uncertainty around his status makes him a solid upside play tonight. If you elected to bargain hunt elsewhere, a guy like Nolan Arenado will be hard to look past hitting at Chase Field.

Other Third Base DFS Options include Yolmer Sanchez, Noland Arenado, David Freese and Jake Lamb.

DFS Short Stop Options for Thursday March 29th, 2018

Orlando Arcia ($2,300): While we love the idea of building around a stack that features Goldschmidt, Arenado and Manny Machado, the short stop position might be the best option to find some sleepers near the $2k mark to free up space. One of those options we like Arcia who hit well during spring training (.429 mark over 28 at bats). For us Arcia brings not only a power upside but also a guy that pickup up a stolen base on occasion.

Other Short Stop DFS options include Manny Machado, Jean Segura, Nick Ahmed and Freddy Galvis.

DFS Outfield Options for Thursday March 29th, 2018

Mike Trout ($4,800): If you elect to spend today at outfield our top option is Mike Trout who is a near lock daily for us when we build both our cash and GPP lineups. The Angels outfielder is entering Opening Day 2018 with eight hits off of Kendall Graveman in 2 career at bats including four extra base hits. As Trout continues to put up MVP numbers year in and year out he will continue to be a threat as a DFS option.

Jarrod Dyson ($2,200): Now after spending on a guy like Trout in the outfield you will need to bargain hut to fill out the roster especially if you look to the outfield slot to fill your Utility Slot. For us a guy that not only presents a little pop hitting in a hitter friendly ball park but solid speed is the Diamondbacks outfielder. Dyson has swiped at least 26 bases in six straight seasons.

Trey Mancini ($2,600): Here is a guy we loved during his rookie campaign in 2017 as he hit 24 home runs and drove in 78 runs for the Orioles. As he gets set for his sophomore campaign he has a ton of protection in the lineup and should have a chance to see some solid opportunities to drive in runs as teams look to pitch around a guy like Manny Machado and Adam Jones in the middle of the lineup.

Other Outfielder DFS options include NomarMazara, Jackie Bradley Jr, Will Myers, J.D. Martinez, Giancarlo Stanton and Aarron Judge.
