Strategies
The weekend has arrived as Major League Baseball takes center stage leading into the Mid Summer Classic. For fantasy owners including daily fantasy players on sites like FanDuel and DraftKings we have three more exciting days of baseball before we get a break for a few days before we get ready for the second half of the 2016 MLB season.
Now Friday Night will be the first of those three action packed days and a day we will have a ton of fantasy options to build around as all 30 MLB teams will be on the diamond after 7pm ET. This leaves a few key matchups to build around including a few hitter friendly matchups at hitter friendly ball parks.
Those game include the St. Louis Cardinals traveling to take on the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park, the Philadelphia Phillies taking on the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field and the Los Angeles Angels traveling to Camden Yards to take on the Baltimore Orioles.
The heavy lineup not only delivers us a ton of options at the plate but it also delivers as a few solid fantasy options to build around on the mound. That list includes Jose Fernandez, Jake Arrieta, Chris Sale, Stephen Strasburg, Noah Syndergaard, Corey Kluber and Cole Hamels to name a bunch.
For us the name that stands out is Chris Sale as he has a very favorable matchup as he will look to lead his Chicago White Sox over the Atlanta Braves on Friday Night. Overall Sale has been dominant for most of the season including over his last four games for his fantasy owners posting no fewer than 45 fantasy points in those four starts.
FanDuel Hitters We Like On Friday July 8th, 2016
David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox: Ortiz is putting together one heck of a first half for the Red Sox this season. Look for him to continue that success on Friday Night against Chris Archer who he has hit very well against in his career. Overall Ortiz is 12 for 31 with six extra base hits including two home runs to go along with 15 runs batted in.
Adrian Gonzalez, Los Angeles Dodgers: If you are looking for a little power potential the Dodgers first baseman could deliver that at a bargain price point. Entering tonight, Gonzalez has 11 career hits off of Andrew Cashner with four of them leaving the yard.
FanDuel Pitchers We Like On Friday July 8th, 2016
Jake Arrieta, Chicago Cubs: While Sale is our first option tonight, Arrieta is a strong option as a backup. The Cubs starter has dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates in his career including holding their current lineup to just 31 hits over 160 career at bats. In two starts earlier this season Arrieta posted 63 fantasy points in each of those outings.
FanDuel Fantasy Sleepers We Like on Friday July 8th, 2016
Sean O’Sullivan, Boston Red Sox: Here is another big time fantasy sleeper who could be a very valuable option on the mound in a matchup the Red Sox could very easily win against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Stack List for Friday July 8th, 2016
Trevor Story/ Carlos Gonzalez/Nolan Arenado: When the Colorado Rockies are at home they are just to hard to pass up on in our FanDuel lineup. Of the bunch Story posted a big time performance on Thursday Night picking up 50.6 fantasy points after connecting on his 20th and 21st home runs of the season.
Hyun Soo Kim/ Chris Davis/Pedro Alvarez: We are going to ride the Baltimore Orioles train much like the Rockies this weekend as they are at home at Camden Yards. We could have thrown Matt Wieters into this group as they will be facing off against a right hander.
Mike Trout/Albert Pujols: This stack will simply be based around the fact that Ubaldo Jimenez gets the nod. The Orioles starter has struggled at times with his command helping opposing teams to put runs on the board.
