Strategies
Tonight looks to be an interesting night for FanDuel owners with no top tier starter taking the hill. There is no Madison Bumgarner or Clayton Kershaw to anchor the rotation. That being said at the top of the starting pitching class sits Drew Pomeranz, Rich Hill and Trevor Bauer. The big question is any of these options the right starter to build our FanDuel lineup around tonight?
For us we don’t like either Pomeranz or Hill tonight based on their matchups. Pomeranz will take the hill for the San Diego Padres in Los Angeles against the Dodgers. The same Dodgers team that has won 10 of their last 12 games at home. Meanwhile Hill will look to cool off a red hot Houston Astros team that has won three straight games, seven of their last ten and sit 23-16 at home on the year.
Bauer on the other hand is a solid fantasy option tonight going against a New York Yankees team that have been up and down all season. Over his last 10 starts, the Cleveland Indians starter has posted at least 30 fantasy points in seven of those games including his last four starts.
Could Bauer pitch us into the green tonight? Guess we shall all see when we build our FanDuel lineup tonight.
FanDuel Hitters We Like On Thursday July 7th, 2016
Justin Smoak, Toronto Blue Jays: Some nights you just have to play the matchup and that is what we are doing with Smoak tonight. The Blue Jays first baseman is five for 15 off of Justin Verlander in his career with three home runs.
Carlos Gonzalez, Colorado Rockies: For us we could have added a bunch of players from tonight’s Philadelphia Phillies/Colorado Rockies game at Coors Field. Prior to the Rockies hitting the road for six straight games, Cargo had been red hot at home going nine for 15 with three home runs, six runs scored and 12 runs batted in.
FanDuel Pitchers We Like On Thursday July 7th, 2016
Trevor Bauer, Cleveland Indians: Along with his solid success this season, Bauer has pitched well against this current group of New York Yankees. Overall the Yankees have gone just 17 for 76 against the Indians starter with 16 strikeouts to just one home run.
Hyun-Jin Ryu, Los Angeles Dodgers: Ryu is an interesting and intriguing option tonight for a Dodgers team that has won 10 of their last 12 games at home. Along with that Ryu showed at times last season he can be a solid fantasy options while pitching to a 3.38 earned run average to go with 14 wins.
FanDuel Fantasy Sleepers We Like on Thursday July 7th, 2016
Chi Chi Gonzalez, Texas Rangers: Now this is a big question mark as Gonzalez has only made a few starts this season while struggling at times. That being said the Rangers are one of the top teams in all of baseball that have been able to put up runs on the board to help their starter add that to the fact that he will get a chance to start against a struggling Minnesota Twins team makes him a nice sleeper option.
The Stack List for Thursday July 7th, 2016
Nolan Arenado/Trevor Story/Carlos Gonzalez: We could have gone a few directions tonight from the Rockies. In the end we couldn’t pass up these three options simply based on the fact they have combined to hit 60 home runs on the season.
