Strategies
The daily fantasy baseball is heating up as the MLB Schedule delivers a near full slate tonight. Tonight’s lineup of games delivers a wide range of top tier options to build around including Madison Bumgarner on the mound while guys like Bryce Harper and Nolan Arenado round out the top hitters in action.
As we start to build our daily fantasy baseball lineups around tonight’s MLB Schedule we started by looking at starters who have struggled of late and which ones that might be solid options to take advantage of. Here are a few starters who have struggled and teams you may want to target for your stacks tonight.
Wade Miley, Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays
It is hard to look past the Rays lineup tonight as they look to get back on track against the Orioles. Entering tonight, Miley has struggled of late allowing at least five earned runs over three of his last four outings. At the front of the damage have been opposing righties who have posted a .387 wOBA and a .365 BABIP against him this year.
Cesar Valdez, Toronto Blue Jays @ Oakland A’s
The Blue Jays will have to turn to Valdez to make a spot start as Aaron Sanchez lands on the DL. For daily fantasy baseball owners this could be a great night to stack the A’s including their right handed lineup including Khris Davis, Ryon Healy and Marcus Semien. On the year righties have crushed Valdez posting a .437 wOBA and a .409 ISOPower mark.
With that said let’s get to the rest of the guys we like to build our daily fantasy baseball rosters around.
Here is our Daily Fantasy Baseball Options for Tuesday July 25th, 2017
Starting Pitcher – Seth Lugo
We could go a few directions on the mound tonight including going with Madison Bumgarner. In the end we like the GPP upside Lugo brings to the table tonight against a Padres team that has struggled on offense while also ranking near the top in team strikeouts all season. Lugo has been solid of late posting 36 fantasy points in back to back outings against the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies.
Top Tier Option: Madison Bumgarner
Mid Tier Option: Jameson Tallion & Jake Faria
Fantasy Sleeper: Jon Gray
Catcher – Yan Gomes
Now depending on which direction you go with your lineup tonight you might have more money to spend at catcher. For us we liked the idea of spending heavy in the outfield making a play for a cheap option behind the plate more important. For us this opened up the door for Gomes who should benefit from his matchup tonight. Entering tonight righties have posted a .376 wOBA and a .266 ISOPower mark against Jesse Chavez.
Top Tier Option: N/A
Mid Tier Option: Yasmani Grandal & J.T. Realmuto
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Jesus Sucre
First Base – Yuli Gurriel
Its hard to look past any member of the Houston Astros lineup this season and Gurriel is no different. The Astros first baseman has posted at least 16 fantasy points in three of his last four games. Add that with the fact he has .364 wOBA against righties makes him a solid play tonight against Nick Pivetta. Pivetta has had difficulties this year against righties who have posted a .429 wOBA mark and a .368 ISOPower stat line for the year.
Top Tier Option: Paul Goldschmidt
Mid Tier Options: Eric Thames
Fantasy Sleeper: Joey Gallo & C.J. Cron
Second Base – Brandon Drury
For cash lineups we suggest looking to a mid tier option like Jonathan Schoop while going cheaper in the outfield. With that said the Arizona Diamondbacks infielder has been a favorite of ours all season in GPP Lineups. Tonight should be no different as he looks to get his bat going at home in one of the best hitters ballparks in all of baseball.
Top Tier Option: Jose Altuve
Mid Tier Option: Jonathan Schoop & Brad Miller
Fantasy Sleeper: Joe Panik
Third Base – Evan Longoria
While Longoria might not be our top option tonight at third base we still like his potential for a huge fantasy performance tonight. The Rays third baseman is one of a few team members who should benefit from facing Wade Miley as he continue to struggle. On the other end if you elect to swap Harper out to a cheaper option, Arenado is a solid option here as well as our third option of the night Manny Machado.
Top Tier Option: Nolan Arenado
Mid Tier Option: Manny Machado & Josh Donaldson
Fantasy Sleeper: Derek Dietrich
Short Stop – Marcus Semien
We are going to ride the Oakland A’s short stop again tonight despite failing to produce double digits yesterday. Tonight, we like Semien to bounce back against the Blue Jays righty who has struggled for most of the season. Along with Semien another solid sleeper option to help free up some salary cap space is Tim Beckham who should have a chance to produce against the Orioles.
Top Tier Option: Francisco Lindor
Mid Tier Option: Freddy Galvis
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Tim Beckham
Outfielders – Bryce Harper, Khris Davis & Steven Souza Jr
After cashing in with Giancarlo Stanton last night we have elected to go with another top tier option as we build around Bryce Harper tonight. While we considered stacking Harper, Stanton and Judge tonight it limited what we could do else where. In the end how can we not go with Harper who has hits in 16 straight games and has been red hot for most of the season. Along with Harper we like Davis and Souza tonight simply based on their matchups against starters who have allowed high wOBA numbers against them.
Top Tier Option: Giancarlo Stanton & Aaron Judge
Mid Tier Option: Adam Jones & Adam Duvall
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Bradley Zimmer
