Strategies
The MLB schedule takes a step back tonight with an eight game slate for daily fantasy baseball owners to cash in on. Luckily for all of us tonight’s slate despite being thin is filled with some solid starting pitching options as well as a few key bats that are getting hot.
For us we are starting tonight looking for that one starter that could reward us with a big time fantasy performance. Tonight we have a few solid options including Gio Gonzalez who takes the hill against a Los Angeles Angels team that ranks near the bottom in the league in team OPS.
Meanwhile the one option we have at the top of our list is Gerrit Cole who will taking the hill for the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers. Entering tonight, Cole has gone at least six innings in five of his last six starts while posting at least 37 fantasy points in four of those contests.
Now before we get to our Daily Fantasy Baseball Options we like for Wednesday July 19th, 2017. Lets take a look at a few MLB Stacks we like for tonight.
MLB Stacks To Consider for Wednesday July 19th, 2017
David Pealta – Jake Lamb – Paul Goldschmidt
Josh Bell – Gregory Polanco
Bryce Harper – Daniel Murphy – Adam Lind
With that said let’s get to the rest of the guys we like to build our daily fantasy baseball rosters around.
Here is our Daily Fantasy Baseball Options for Wednesday July 19th, 2017
Starting Pitcher – Gerrit Cole
We tossed around a few options on the mound tonight including Gio Gonzalez and Jacob deGrom. In the end we couldn’t look past Cole who has some success against the same Milwaukee Brewers team he will be facing tonight including going seven innings back on June 19th while finishing with 43 fantasy points. Despite the Brewers power potential the team also opens up the door for additional fantasy points as they currently rank 1st in MLB in strikeouts.
Top Tier Option: Jacob deGrom & Gio Gonzalez
Mid Tier Option: Kenta Maeda
Fantasy Sleeper: Kevin Gausman
Catcher – Welington Castillo
Now the catcher position is one of those slots where you can find some true value and some extra cash for other positions. One name that we will be building around tonight is Castillo as he looks to continue his recent success after the All-Star game. Castillo enters tonight with hits in four straight games including a double and a home run. Add that with the fact he currently holds a .336 wOBA and a ..328 BABIP against lefties makes him a solid option behind the plate tonight.
Top Tier Option: N/A
Mid Tier Option: Yasmani Grandal & Salvador Perez
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Jeff Mathis
First Base – Chris Davis
The options at first base are solid tonight including Paul Goldschmidt and Miguel Cabrera and Cody Bellinger. In the end we just can’t look past the Baltimore Orioles first baseman and his $2,800 salary. Despite his struggles after the All-Star break, Davis showed his upside with his two home run output last night. Jones enters tonight with a .332 wOBA and a .400 BABIP against lefties this season.
Top Tier Option: Paul Goldschmidt & Miguel Cabrera
Mid Tier Options: Josh Bell & Ryan Zimmerman
Fantasy Sleeper: Adam Lind
Second Base – Daniel Murphy
Currently its nearly impossible to look past the entire Washington Nationals lineup right now with the way they are hitting. Despite going hitless in eight straight at bats, Murphy is still one of the best hitters in all of baseball entering Wednesday Night’s contest. Murphy is currently hitting .340 with 16 home runs and 71 runs batted in. Entering tonight, opposing lefties have posted a .346 wOBA against Alex Meyer this season.
Top Tier Option: N/A
Mid Tier Option: Jonathan Schoop
Fantasy Sleeper: Brandon Drury
Third Base – Manny Machado
After a slow start the bat of Machado has continued to heat up since the All-Star break. The Orioles third baseman has picked up seven hits over his last 18 at bats including three double digit fantasy performances. Add that with the fact Machado is a true home run power threat every time he steps into the box makes him a great option tonight. Along with Machado, Lamb is another great option based on his success against righties this season.
Top Tier Option: Anthony Rendon
Mid Tier Option: Jake Lamb & Nick Castellanos
Fantasy Sleeper: Jedd Gyorko
Short Stop – Alcides Escobar
Now for us we looked at a wide range of options at short stop tonight but in the end loading up with a few of the top tier options at the other positions limits our spending. One option is to go with Escobar while Stephen Drew if he gets the start could be another solid option. The Royals short stop has shown signs of life picking up hits in four of his last five games. Add that with his ability to get on base provides us with some solid potential for a big time reward.
Top Tier Option: Corey Seager
Mid Tier Option: Elvis Andrus
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Stephen Drew
Outfielders – Bryce Harper, Gregory Polanco & David Peralta
As long as Harper continues to hit at this pace he is nearly a lock to be in all cash lineups while also still providing us with a huge potential in GPP lineups. The Nationals star went four for four on Tuesday Night with a triple and home run while pushing his season average up to .337. Meanwhile Polanco and Peralta are both solid mid tier options to offset Harpers high salary. Peralta enters tonight with a .360 wOBA mark against righties while lefties have posted a .360 mark with a .226 ISOpower number again Zack Davies.
Top Tier Option: Mike Trout
Mid Tier Option: Avisail Garcia & Adam Duvall
Fantasy Sleeper Option: Yasiel Puig & Ezequiel Carrera
