Victor Martinez looks to lead fantasy owners on Saturday August 30th. Martinez and the Detroit Tigers are in Chicago to take on the White Sox with Chris Sale on the mound. The Tigers designated hitter has put together a solid fantasy stat sheet against one of the top pitchers in the American League.
Martinez has 13 hits in 25 career at bats verse Sale including five extra base hits and four runs batted in. Much of the success have came in past seasons as Martinez has one home run his only hit in three at bats verse Sale this season.
Over his last five games Martinez has nine hits in 22 at bats with two home runs, six runs scored and five runs driven on. Martinez is putting together one of the best seasons of his career with a career high in home runs with 26 and the second highest batting average of his career at .327.
Martinez is just one of a handful of fantasy stars to pick up on Saturday. Here are a few of the other options you have to choose from today.
Alex Rios, Outfielder: The Texas Rangers are in Houston to take on the Astros with Scott Feldman on the mound. In his career Rios has put together a .293 career average with 12 hits in 41 at bats. Seven of those 12 hits have gone for extra bases including three home runs.
Mike Aviles, Short Stop: Aviles and the Cleveland Indians have a difficult matchup on Saturday against James Shields. The Indians short stop has 10 career hits in 30 at bats with two home runs and three runs batted in.
Garrett Jones, First Baseman: Jones is a great value play for any one playing in daily fantasy leagues. The Miami Marlins first base man has 10 career hits in 24 at bats verse Aaron Harang with four extra base hits.
Jacoby Ellsbury, Outfielder: The New York Yankees outfielder has been red hot of late hitting .444 over his last seven games. Over that stretch Ellsbury has four home runs, three stolen bases and nine runs batted in.
Buster Posey, Catcher: Posey’s bat was alive on Friday night picking up five hits in five at bats with three runs batted in. In his last seven games, Posey is hitting .452 with three home runs and 10 runs batted in for the San Francisco Giants.
Max Scherzer, Starting Pitcher: The Detroit Tigers starter is going up against a Chicago White Sox team he has seen routinely since joining the roster. In his career against current White Sox hitters, Scherzer is holding them to a .220 batting average in 528 career at bats.
Chris Sale, Starting Pitcher: Sale looks to continue his solid season against the Tigers today. In June, Sale pitched seven solid innings allowing one earned run while striking out 10 Tiger hitters.
