Must Start Fantasy Football Running Backs for Week 8

Week 7 of the NFL season is in the books, and this past week provided an onslaught of surprise players in Fantasy Football. We have seen a ton of big injuries and suspensions this year, which has opened the door for some deep waiver wire finds. If you’re one of the lucky owners to snag Lamar Miller, Branden Oliver, Jerick McKinnon, Larry Donnell, Travis Kelce, or Mohamed Sanu, then you have certainly reaped the benefits. We now expect Oliver, McKinnon, Kelce, Donnell, and Miller to be top Fantasy assets for the remainder of the season, and while Sanu will see a reduced role with the return of A.J. Green, we suggest you stash him on the bench while evaluating Green’s toe injury.

The waiver wire has been deep all season, and this past week proved that there is still plenty of talent available. Week 7 surprises were all over the wire, including Denard Robinson of the Jags, Tre Mason in St.Louis, and Stevie Johnson of San Francisco, just to name a few. Robinson posted huge numbers (22 127 1) and you can expect more of the same in week 8. Robinson faces off with a Dolphins defense ranking 24th against opposing backs, and gave up over 20 Fantasy points to Matt Forte this past Sunday. Robinson is not Matt Forte, but expect a heavy workload for the former Michigan quarterback. Rotoguys.com is here to help you win your Fantasy league, and below are more of our must starts for Week 8.

Shane Vereen- Vereen should have the green light the rest of the season if owned on your team. The Patriots backfield has been known to cause major headaches for Fantasy owners, but with Stevan Ridley out for the season, expect Vereen to be the bell cow for Bill Belichick. Vereen caught two touchdown passes from Tom Brady this past Thursday night, and will face a Bears defense ranked 11th against the run. While the Bears defense may be stingy on the ground, you can expect Vereen to excel once again through the air. Expect Vereen to easily be over 100 yards total, and to probably find the end zone once again.

Jerick McKinnon- McKinnon has broken 100 yards twice in the last four games, and faces a 26th ranked Bucs rushing defense in Week 8. Teddy Bridgewater has struggled through the air, and you can count on the Vikings taking a run heavy approach against Tampa. Anticipate McKinnon to break the century mark again and probably see his first rushing touchdown in the NFL.

Darren McFadden- It’s not often we suggest starting any Oakland Raider, but McFadden is a different story against a Browns defense ranked 28th against the run. The Browns surrendered 127 yards this past Sunday to Denard Robinson, and fell hard to a winless Jacksonville squad. The Raiders have a rookie quarterback in Derick Carr, and we expect to see Carr turn and hand to McFadden at least 20 times in this game.

Ahmad Bradshaw- The Colts have played lights out over the past five games, and they travel to Pittsburgh this Sunday. The Colts will collide with a Steelers run defense giving up nearly 30 ppg to opposing backs the last two weeks. Bradshaw has become a nice target for Luck through the air, and has become the best option on the ground as well. The Steelers gave up 100 yards and a receiving score to Arian Foster on Monday night, and two touchdowns to Ben Tate the previous week. We foresee Bradshaw playing a big part in the Colts game plan Sunday.

Ben Tate- Tate should obviously be played against a 30th ranked Oakland Defense this Sunday, just a little bonus advice.
