The action packed weekend of Daily Fantasy Sports wraps up with another exciting day of fantasy basketball on Sunday. The action gets underway at 12pm Et delivering fantasy owners a nice nine game slate for Daily Fantasy Basketball owners to cash in on.
For us we are turning our attention to the five game slate that gets underway starting at 8pm ET that features some of the top fantasy options in the game. This group includes four different fantasy options that are averaging over 41 fantasy points. At the front of that list sits DeMarcus Cousins while the other three stars are Kevin Durant, Le’Bron James and Damian Lillard.
Along with the top options you can also find some solid value at the mid tier level as well as a few fantasy sleepers that have the potential to put up a big time fantasy performance. One of those options we like is at the power forward with the Detroit Pistons Tobias Harris.
Harris will look to capitalize against a Portland Trailblazers team that ranks first in the NBA in fantasy points allowed to opposing power forwards. Along with the matchup, Harris has been solid of late posting over 30 fantasy points in six of the Pistons last seven games.
Now lets take a a deeper look at our Daily Fantasy Basketball options for Sunday January 8th, 2017 on FanDuel.
Point Guards – Kyrie Irving & Ty Lawson
While we tossed around a few options including going with Damian Lillard but we just can’t look past Irving. Irving is coming off a strong 45.6 point fantasy performance after missing three straight games. Irving has the second best fantasy matchup of the night against a Phoenix Suns team that has had their hands full with opposing point guards. Meanwhile, Lawson is one of those Fantasy Sleeper options we like that has a huge upside in GPP formats in a contest where the Sacramento Kings will need to shoot to stay in the game.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Damian Lillard
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Elfrid Payton & D’Angelo Russell
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Ty Lawson
Shooting Guards – C.J. McCollum & Evan Fournier
The lack of fantasy production at the shooting guard position opens up the door for McCollum to be a very popular option on Sunday Night. The Trailblazers shooting guard enters this game with three straight 42 plus fantasy performances with two of those games going over the 52 mark. Meanwhile Fournier has a very favorable matchup while also seeing back to back games over the 30 minute mark since returning from a five game absence.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: C.J. McCollum
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Klay Thompson
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Tony Allen
Small Forwards – Kevin Durant & Marcus Morris
The big debate tonight is whether or not to stack two of the big time fantasy scorers together. In the end we like the idea of going with Durant and James if you do this stack the downside is you will have to turn away from the more expensive options. Durant despite being in a talented lineup continues to post big games including four 50 plus fantasy performances over his last six games. Morris on the other hand is that GPP option that has the potential as we seen his last game where he posted 38.5 fantasy points. Tonight he should have a chance to continue that trend against a Trailblazers team that can’t slow down opposing small forwards.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: LeBron James
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Rudy Gay (Monitor Injury Status)
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Aaron Gordon

Power Forwards –Julius Randle & Tobias Harris
When looking at the power forward position it is difficult to see a ton of options in the mid tier to fantasy sleeper category. While you could turn to Al-Farouq Aminu who is coming off a 32.2 fantasy performance in his last outing but his ability to lay a dud has to be in the back of your mind as well. In the end Randle despite dealing with an injury has found a way to put up over 30 fantasy points in four straight games making him a great cash option but he also has the potential to put up a 50 spot nearly any night of the week. Harris on the other hand is an easy option as he faces off against a Trailblazers team that ranks first in the NBA in fantasy points allowed to opposing power forwards including at least 35 fantasy points to opposing players in five straight games.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Draymond Green
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Serge Ibaka
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Al-Farouq Aminu
Center Option – Nikola Vucevic
For us Cousins is easily the top option at the center position but we valued the high upside and salary cap number that Vucevic offers against a Lakers team that struggles on the defensive end of the floor. Entering this contest the Lakers rank second among teams in action tonight in fantasy points allowed to opposing centers. The Magic’s center has posted over 37 fantasy points in three of his last five games.
Top Tier Fantasy Option We Like: DeMarcus Cousins
Mid Tier Fantasy Option We Like: Andre Drummond
Fantasy Sleeper Option We Like: Tristan Thompson
