Strategies
The 2017 NFL schedule is rolling along as the quarter mark of the season is in the books for all 32 teams. Now Week 5 should present us with some great fantasy options, it will also present us the first week of byes for NFL teams (Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos & Washington Redskins). While we lose the chance to build around a few of the top offensive quarterbacks, we still have a ton of other top options to build our FanDuel lineups around.
Now that being said, Week 5 will present us another opportunity to find some key FanDuel bargains and sleepers to help us take home some cash. This includes a chance to take home a top prize of $500k in FanDuel’s $2.2m Sunday Million Contest. While it is easy for everyone to say I will go with guys like Tom Brady, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell, the hard part is finding guys to offset those salary cap numbers.
Here is our look at some of our key FanDuel Bargains & Sleepers for week 5 of the NFL Season to help free up some additional salary cap space.
2017 NFL Week 5 Fantasy Bargains & Sleepers
Running Back Bargains & Sleepers
J.D. McKissic, Seattle Seahawks – The injuries and inconsistencies in the Seahawks running game continue to mount since the loss of Marshawn Lynch to retirement. Now with injuries to both Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise the door has opened for McKissic to insert himself into the offense. While we don’t expect to see much more than 8-12 carries a week from him, his speed and ability to break off a big play makes him a solid GPP candidate this week against a Los Angeles Rams defense that is allowing the most fantasy points to opposing running backs.
Javorius Allen, Baltimore Raven – As long as the Ravens running back’s price tag is near the $5k mark we have to keep liking him each week. While Allen only saw two carries last week, the team’s lack of movement on offense and falling behind put them in a passing situation. Good news for us, Allen continues to be involved in the teams passing attack catching at least five passes in each of the team’s last three games.
Other notable Running Back Bargains and Sleepers include Aaron Jones, Wayne Gallman&Elijah McGuire.
Wide Receivers Bargains & Sleepers
Jaron Brown – Arizona Cardinals: For us Brown is a one of those options we like despite the fact that both J.J. Nelson and John Brown are slowly getting healthy. Jaron matched Larry Fitzgerald in total plays last week while delivering another solid fantasy performance for his daily fantasy owners. Add that with the fact the return of the other two options lowering his fantasy usage on FanDuel and he is well worth the play at just $4,500.
Kenny Stills – Miami Dolphins: While Stills has yet to be that big-time threat he was a few years back in New Orleans, he still brings a solid GPP upside with his big play potential. This week that potential could show up against a Tennessee Titans defense that has allowed eight touchdown receptions to opposing wide receivers. Look for the Dolphins and Jay Cutler to take their shots through the air in Week 5.
Kendall Wright – Chicago Bears: One of the Bears wide receivers will have to be involved in the teams passing attack this week as the team moves to Mitch Trubisky. While we like Wright who has been consistent, guys like Markus Wheaton, Deonte Thompson and Trea McBride all have a GPP upside this week.
Other notable Wide Receiver Bargains and Sleepers include Deonte Thompson, Geronimo Allison (pay attention to Randall Cobb), Paul Richardson & Cole Beasley.
Tight End Bargains & Sleepers
Zach Miller, Chicago Bears: With the injuries to the teams passing attack and the decision to move to the rookie quarterback, Miller could be called on early this week against the Minnesota Vikings. While Miller has only five targets over the past two weeks, much of that could have been from the lack of play at the quarterback position. For now, look for Miller as a tight end with a big GPP upside.
Other notable Tight End Bargains and Sleepers include Nick Boyle, Ed Dickson &Ryan Griffin.
