The 2016 NFL Schedule rolls into wave two as the second half of the season gets underway this weekend. Now before we get to our FanDuel plays of the week we will take a look at the week 9 slate of games including a prime time Sunday Night Contest.
Now the first game we like for week 9 features the Dallas Cowboys heading to Cleveland to take on the Browns. This is a primetime fantasy matchup to take advantage of as the Cleveland Browns have struggled to slow down opposing offenses. Entering week 9 the Browns are allowing the fourth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, fourth against opposing running backs, fifth against wide receivers and third against tight ends.
Along with looking at a handful of the Cowboys weapons we like this week there are a few other key matchups we like as well. One of those is a fantasy sleeper in Case Keenum for the Los Angeles Rams against a struggling Carolina Panthers team who has allowed 16 touchdown passes on 2142 yards passing.
Here is who we like for week 9 of the 2016 NFL Season to build our FanDuel lineups around.
Starting Quarterback FanDuel
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers: This week we suggest putting your fantasy team in the hands of the Packers quarterback as he will look to take advantage of a very bad Indianapolis Colts defense. Entering this game the Colts have allowed 2,387 yards passing with 14 touchdowns against just two interceptions.
Other Quarterback Options to consider: Dak Prescott, Sam Bradford and Case Keenum (Fantasy Sleeper).
Starting Running Back FanDuel
Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys: The second of our top fantasy options for week 9 is the Cowboys running back as he looks to take advantage of the Browns defense. Entering this contest Elliott has topped the 16 point fantasy mark in five straight games including three of those performances against top 10 run defenses.
Charcandrick West, Kansas City Chiefs: For us we looked at the second running back slot as an opportunity to free up some salary cap space to allow us to load up at the wide receiver slot. West will get the start this weekend against a Jacksonville Jaguars team that has had its up and downs this season.
Other Running Backs to consider: Le’Veon Bell (You could team him up with Elliott you would have to bargain shop at wide receiver), Devontae Booker, Mark Ingram and Tim Hightower (Fantasy Sleeper).
Starting Wide Receiver FanDuel
Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers: How can we not like Nelson and Devante Adams both this weekend against a very bad Colts defense. Add that with the fact that we love Rodgers at quarterback makes this decision an easy one. Nelson has posted over 15 fantasy points in three of his last six games.
Allen Hurns, Jacksonville Jaguars: We tossed around the idea of using both Hurns and his teammate Allen Robinson. In the end we liked Hurns salary cap number allowing us to land Nelson as our top receiver. The Chiefs defense has allowed 1,302 yards and nine touchdowns through the air this season.
Brandin Cooks, New Orleans Saints: While we left Brees off of our list of options at quarterback but we still like his play this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers. Add that to the fact that Cooks has at least one touchdown in three straight games makes him a great option this weekend.
Other Wide Receivers to consider include: Antonio Brown, Allen Robinson, Kenny Stills, Dorial Green-Beckham (fantasy sleeper).
Starting Tight End FanDuel
Lance Kendricks, Los Angeles Rams: We tossed around a few names including Kendricks as well as Antonio Gates for the San Diego Chargers and Kyle Rudolph for the Minnesota Vikings. In the end we looked to Kendricks who has been targeted at least seven times in three of his last four games.
Other Tight Ends to consider include: Antonio Gates, Jason Witten and Kyle Rudolph.
Starting Kicker FanDuel
Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers: For us this is a simple decision as we expect to see a ton of points scored in the Packers/Colts game on Sunday. This makes both Crosby as well as Adam Vinatari great option at the kicker slot. The Colts/Packers game is just one of two games with an over/under of 50 or higher.
Other Kickers to consider include: Justin Tucker, Cairo Santos and Caleb Sturgis.
Starting Defense FanDuel
Miami Dolphins: You could go a few directions here including the Dallas Cowboys against the Cleveland Browns as well as the Minnesota Vikings against the Detroit Lions. In the end we elected to go with a Dolphins team that will look to take advantage of a very bad New York Jets team.
Other Defenses to consider include: Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams.
