Over Performing Fantasy Basketball Players

Less than a month into the 2013-2014 season, we can already see some NBA player who are performing way better than they were actually expected to. Some of them are rookies while some others just found the right environment with their new or old teams that allowed them to over perform. Let’s examine some of them.

Michael Carter-Williams

The rookie point guard is one of the most impressive rookies this season, if not the most impressive one. He is definitely playing better than almost any draft and NBA analyst projected. He is now averaging 16.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 7.8APG and 2.6 STLPG and he has been a big factor in the Philadelphia 76ers’ great start in the season. MCW’s shooting percentages have also been better than initially expected, especially from three-point range. He is now shooting 38.2 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three-point territory.

Tony Wroten

Another young player from the Philadelphia 76ers who is over performing up to this point this season. Wroten has emerged as a solid contributor off the bench for Philly, averaging 12.6 PPG, 3.4 APG and 3.2 RPG. Although he needs to improve some aspects of his game in order to be considered as reliable option, with his 20 3P% being the first, he can be a valuable piece for almost any fantasy team. The 76ers have definitely found a steal with their 25th pick of this summer’s draft.

Paul George

Every NBA fan who watched the 2013 NBA playoffs expected big things from Paul George this season. But the numbers the 23-year old ace has been playing like a true superstar, leading the Indiana Pacers to an 11-1 start of the season. George has exploded for 24.6 PPG, 6.5 RPG and 3.2 APG, while he is shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 35.9 percent from downtown. He is also shooting free throws at an 85.5 percent rate. Shall he continue to improve like he has been as of lately, it won’t take long for him to establish his name at the elite of the NBA, with his name being featured next to Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Vitor Faverani

The Boston Celtics are using the undrafted Vitor Faverani out of Brazil as their main center and how could they not? They don’t have another player with a body similar to Faverani’s. The 7-footer center has responded well to the urgency call and is putting up solid numbers: 5.5 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 1.3 BLKPG and a 42.4 FG%. If he sees more minutes he could be even more productive but obviously he needs some time to get adjusted to the NBA and has lots of flaws in his game.

Kyle Korver

Korver is averaging 12.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.5 APG, 53.8 FG% and 52.9 3P%, which are all above his career-averages. He is performing much better than expected for the Atlanta Hawks. If he can continue to put up numbers like those, he will always be a solid fantasy option for any fantasy team.
