The one-day to be thankful for each year has arrived as we gear up for a three game lineup of football on Thanksgiving. This gives daily fantasy owners something to cheer for as well with the fantasy action getting started at 12:30 on Thursday with the first of three games.
The three games you will have a chance to build your FanDuel lineup around kicks off as the Philadelphia Eagles travel to Detroit to take on the Lions. That second game of the Thanksgiving Triple Header features the undefeated Carolina Panthers heading to Dallas to take on the Cowboys. The final action of the night wraps up as Jay Cutler leads his Chicago Bears in to Lambeau field to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
Each of these contests presents us with a bunch of great fantasy options including the first game between the Eagles and Lions. The first name that stands out for us is wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Johnson has shown up on Thanksgiving in the past including 11 catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

While Johnson might be an easy choice the big question is which of the six quarterbacks should we go with? Tony Romo would be a big time gamble going against a solid Panthers defense meanwhile we aren’t sure if Sam Bradford or Mark Sanchez will get the start for the Panthers. If Sanchez plays we could consider going with him but we would avoid Bradford who has not turned in a 20 point contest over his last five games.
That leaves us with Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, Matthew Stafford and Jay Cutler as the top options. All four of these quarterbacks are great options this Thanksgiving with very favorable matchups.
Here is our Thanksgiving Day FanDuel Lineup.
Quarterback – Matthew Stafford ($7,200): Coming off a strong 20 plus fantasy performance in his last outing we have elected to team Stafford and Johnson up together this Thanksgiving. If you elect to go with Newton or Rodgers I wouldn’t complain but we suggest going with one of their cheaper receiving options.
Running Back – DeMarco Murray ($7,700): We like both Murray for the Eagles and Ameer Abullah for the Lions in this contest. The other top option we are monitoring is whether or not Matt Forte will suit up for the Bears divisional matchup with the Packers.
Running Back – Jonathan Stewart ($7,100): Stewart has one of the top fantasy matchups of the week against the Cowboys. Entering this week the Cowboys defense has allowed over 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns to opposing running backs through their first ten games.
Wide Receiver – Calvin Johnson ($8,200): After his Thanksgiving Day performance last year, Johnson has landed a spot on our roster this year. Some guys are just made for this day just look back at what Randy Moss did on Thanksgiving!
Wide Receiver – Alshon Jeffery (S7,600): Jeffery has dominated for fantasy owners for most of the season and that should continue against the Packers. We also expect Randall Cobb to have a big game for the Packers as well.
Wide Receiver – Jordan Matthews ($6,000): We considered going with Abdullah for the Lions at running back to free up some cap space to go with Cobb. In the end look for the Eagles/Lions game to produce some big time fantasy performances.
Tight End – Greg Olsen ($6,400): We considered going with Richard Rodgers for the Packers as we expect Olsen to be used in a high percentage of leagues. The problem is we just like Olsen to much this week against the Cowboys in a game we expect the Panthers to put some solid points on the board.
Kicker – Graham Gano ($4,900): As we look at this contest we expect the Panthers to put up some points on the Cowboys. We also considered going with Matt Prater against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Defense – Carolina Panthers ($4,700): We really don’t like any of the defenses on Thursday but ended up going with the undefeated Panthers. Our other solid choice was to go with the Packers at home but we expect some offense to be played both both teams in this game.
