Aaron Rodgers, Antonio Gates take home the top fantasy players awards for week 2. Rodgers big game is exactly what the Green Bay Packers needed to avoid falling to 0-2 to start the season. The New York Jets jumped out to 14-3 lead after the first quarter and a 21-3 lead early in the second quarter.
That is when Rodgers went to work leading the team to back to back field goals before connecting with Randall Cobb on a six yard touchdown to cut the score 21-16 before halftime. Rodgers success continued in the third quarter as he connect with Cobb for his second touchdown grab of the game followed by the two point conversion catch that put the team up 24-21.
Rodgers would connect with Jordy Nelson for an 80 yard touchdown to put the Packers up for good. The Packers quarterback finished the game completing 25-42 passes for 346 yards and three touchdown passes. Next up for Rodgers and the Packers are the Detroit Lions in week 3 at home.
Out west the San Diego Chargers used a big game from Antonio Gates to put away the Seattle Seahawks. Gates rewarded his fantasy owners by pulling in seven catches for 96 yards and three touchdowns. The three touchdown game was Gates third of his career and first since his week 8 performance in 2005 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Here are some of the other top fantasy performances from week 2.
Sammy Watkins, Wide Receiver: The 2014 first round draft pick delivered big for the Buffalo Bills in week 2 against divison rivals the Miami Dolphins. Watkins pulled in eight catches for 117 yards and one touchdown.
Week 3 Fantasy Outlook: Watkins and the Bills host a Chargers team that allowed over 200 yards of passing offense and two touchdowns in week 2.
Jay Cutler, Quarterback: Cutler has put together back to back solid fantasy games after throwing for 176 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday Night Football. The Chicago Bears quarterback connected with his favorite target Brandon Marshall for three of the four touchdowns.
Week 3 Fantasy Outlook: Cutler and the Bears get their shot at a Jets secondary that allowed Aaron Rodgers to throw for over 340 yards.
Arian Foster, Running Back: The Houston Texans have looked like a totally different team from last season and much of their week 2 success came from Foster. Foster finished the game with 28 carries for 138 yards and one touchdown.
Week 3 Fantasy Outlook: The Texans head to New York to take on a Giants team that has allowed 200 yards on the ground and three rushing touchdowns.
Fantasy Sleeper Of The Week:
Niles Paul, Tight End: The Washington Redskins tight end has taking over the tight end duties with Jordan Reed out. Paul delivered in week 3 pulling in eight catches for 99 yards and one touchdown in the Redskins win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Week 3 Fantasy Outlook: Paul and the Redskins head to take on a Eagles defense that has allowed 60 yards and one touchdown to the tight end position in two games this season.
