Strategies
In fantasy leagues the top picks get a lot of the attention and talk, but where you’re going to win your league is in the later rounds, and with sleepers. Here are some sleepers that you can add to your team and help you pull away in your leagues.
Goalie: Ben Scrivens
Finding a reliable goalie can be really difficult. But when a capable backup steps up and takes over the starting job he is a must add while on the waiver wire. Many thought Jonathan Quick would return much sooner then it is now apparent. Out until Christmas, the former Toronto backup Scrivens has took over the starting spot and the Kings have not missed a beat. He is 4-0-1 and has already pitched 2 shootouts. He is still available in about 40% of leagues, a must pickup.
Defenseman- Cam Fowler
Cam Fowler has 7 points this year while on the power play. Playing with Corey Perry, and Ryan Getzlaf will do that for you. If you are looking for some offensive production from your defenseman then Fowler is your guy. Available in 45% of leagues still.
Left Wing- David Perron
Perron has 18 points on the season, his plus minus is not going to be good (Thank you Edmonton) But he is solid, and puts shots on the net often. He has been gaining steam and being picked up in more leagues currently still available in 56%. He also has a season ranking of 37. Should be owned in 100% with his recent play.
Right Wing- Valeri Nichuskin
A 18 year old right winger starting along side Tyler Seguin, and Jamie Benn on the Dallas Star’s first line, and only owned in 8% of leagues. He is the definition of a sleeper. Whether you have a spot available to pick Nichuskin up, or you want to just keep an eye on him, the potential is there, and I think he will soon start to produce good numbers.
Center- Mikhail Grabovski
The former leaf has a chip on his shoulder, after having the last 4 years of his contract bought out by the Maple Leafs, he has gone on to play well for the Caps. Although not on their top line he has produce 19 points (7 goals and 12 assist) He is given much more offensive freedom now and that probably has to do with his much improved offensive output from last year. He is available in over 50% of leagues.
